Hillcrest Elementary School - Social Emotional Learning
Lori Hebert, Hillcrest Principal and Kristi Kjelstad, Hillcrest School Counselor presented on the learning and activities being implemented at Hillcrest to help students better comprehend and feel their emotions and demonstrate empathy for others.; click here for the presentation.

Dan Walker of WIPFLI, LLP outlined the 2020-2021 audit report and the Board approved the audit as presented; click here for details.
Consideration of Internal Teacher for Teacher Substitute Pay Rate
Michelle Golden, Executive Director of Human Resources & Public Relations, provided an explanation for the recommendation to increase the internal teacher for teacher substitute pay rate; click here for more detail; please note that this was tabled for lack of a quorum of Board Members to vote on this matter and will be brought back for consideration during the next available Board meeting.
Consideration of Hillcrest Elementary Roof Bids
The Board accepted the recommendation from The Garland Company, Inc. and awarded the Base Bid and Add Item #1 in the amount of $266,000.00 to Jackson & Associates; click here for greater detail.
Consideration of 2022 Proposed WASB Resolutions
The Board agreed to support the following proposed 2022 WASB Resolutions at the WASB delegate assembly during the state education convention; click here for greater detail:
- 22-01 Safe Harbor Legislation
- 22-02 Annual Inflationary or Greater Increases in Per Pupil Spendable Resources
- 22-03 Funding for Children with Disabilities
- 22-04 Advanced Learning
- 22-05 Broadening Staff Expenditures Eligible for State Categorical Aid for School Mental Health Services
- 22-06 Broadening the Scope of Mental Health Services Eligible for Reimbursement
- 22-08 WASB National Presence and/or National Association Membership
- 22-09 Impact Aid
- 22-10 Elementary and Secondary Education Act
- 22-07 Curriculum and Professional Training on Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders - The Board agreed not to support the proposed 2022 WASB Resolution 22-07 at the WASB delegate assembly during the state education convention as the District’s current educational curriculum includes teaching the history, culture, and contributions of Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders so a mandate is unnecessary.

Superintendent Holmes provided a status update of the Board Considerations monthly newsletter. The newsletter averages over 1,000 readers per month.
Teacher Compensation Study Early Findings
Michelle Golden, Executive Director of Human Resources & Public Relations provided an initial report and timeline for the 2021 Certified Staff Compensation Study.

COVID-19 Update
Superintendent Holmes informed the Board that we currently remain in Level 2 Status upon return from the winter holiday; however, there is growing concern regarding an uptick in community spread cases; we will continue to closely monitor the available data.
