"Together We Can"
From Ms. Butler's Desk
Dear Knight Family,
It's been several weeks since my last Knightly Newsletter. I wanted to address a few questions we have been receiving over the last few weeks.
The last day of school will be Monday, June 13, 2022. It will be a half-day. This year, TWCA was an Additional Days School Year campus (ADSY). ADSY participating campuses are required to meet the 180 instructional days. TWCA has more than enough minutes but is not meeting the 180 days and that is why 2 school days needed to be added. If you would like more information about ADSY, please click this link or click the "Additional Days School Year (ADSY) Frequently Asked Questions button below. Please click this link to see the updated TWCA School Calendar or click the "Updated TWCA Calendar" button below.
Yes, scholars will have furniture to sit on until the end of the school year. Student desks and furniture will not leave our campus before Monday, June 13, 2022. During a faculty meeting, we were throwing around ideas if additional seating was required after Memorial Day; however, we were brainstorming. I apologize that our faculty conversation was discussed with students and parents.
Will the scholars wear uniforms until the end of the year?
Yes, scholars will wear uniforms until the end of the school year; however, there will be a few days of different dress attire such as athletic wear for field day and Sunday Best dress for Kinder Graduation, 1st-7th Grade Awards Day, and 8th-grade celebration.
Will scholars be expected to do school work until the end of the year?
Grades for the 4th 9-Weeks will be submitted on June 3, 2022. After 3rd-8th grade complete MAP testing next week, we will be engaging in project-based learning. We will be working on summer reading, math, science, and social studies projects that we were unable to get to during the regular school year.
Does my child have to attend school until the last day?
As the Director of the campus, my answer is always yes. As a parent, I want you to make the best decision for your child. I have linked a copy of the RES Parent-Student Handbook below. Attendance is discussed on Pages 2 & 3.
I have some additional announcements linked below. Please read the entire newsletter for important upcoming events and action items. Have an amazing weekend.
Abbie Johnson--8th Grade Taekwondo Superstar!!!
We would like to update you on Abbie's taekwondo journey. As you know, she was the red belt national sparring champion for 2021. After three years of hard work, she tested for and achieved her black belt in January of this year. She is now fighting at the black belt level subsequent to that success. Despite her short time competing at this advanced level, she won the state championship last weekend with a gold medal and will be ranked #6 in the nation as a black belt. (see picture to the left)
Abbie trains six days per week with Sunday as her only day off. These six days span two different taekwondo schools as well as strength and conditioning/High-Intensity Training (HIT) two additional sessions per week equaling 7-8 sessions across those six days. Her next steps are training hard for the upcoming Pan American US Open at the end of this month followed immediately by the US National qualifiers in Oklahoma. The season will culminate in the US Nationals in Salt Lake City at the end of July followed by the President's Cup International in Florida the weekend before she starts high school at the Espirit International School the third week of August. She has her eyes set on making the US National Team in the fall and preparing to represent her country abroad and is hopeful for a shot at the next Summer Olympics.
We are very proud of her and want to thank you for your dedication to the students at TWCA. Abbie has enjoyed her time there and will undoubtedly carry fond memories.

Action Required: ALL Scholars Must Withdraw from TWCA
As you know, The Woodlands Classical Academy is closing next month. Because our campus is closing, all scholars must withdraw from TWCA. We would like to get a head start on processing your scholar's withdrawal paperwork.
Complete the Google Form below on or before Friday, June 3, 2022. Once the form is completed, we will prepare your child’s withdrawal documents. For your convenience, the documents will be prepared and scanned to you via email for your signature. Signed documents can be scanned or dropped off at the main campus front office.
Be advised that your child must be fully withdrawn from The Woodlands Classical Academy in order to enroll in a new school. Once you have completed the withdrawal process with us, we will release your child's records to the new school when they are requested. Failure to follow the withdrawal procedures could result in your child being coded as a dropout for reporting.
Your withdrawal date will be June 14, 2022.
I wish you all the very best as you continue your educational journey.
