Earth Day 2015
By: Michael Lombardi
History of Earth Day
In the 1960's humans were destroying our environment with little to no concern of the effects. We were polluting at an enormous rate. After the massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, the government organized a "national teach-in on the environment" and notified Americas press about it. On april 22nd 1970, 20 million Americans responded to this event. In 1990 people wanted another Earth Day. Since then EArth Day has grown into a nationally celebrated event.
What I am Doing to Help the Earth
There are many things you can do to help the Earth. You can plant trees, try to recycle more, pick up garbage and not use motorized vehicles as much. I, myself am recycling more and cycling more to help out.
