Akron Hope Updates
Check out what we did in November and what's coming up soon!
Our Student Organization is Thriving!
Since beginning last month, Zips for Akron Hope has quickly grown to be one of the largest, most recognizable groups on campus. We have 86 members currently signed up on OrgSync, which means hundreds of students have now heard Akron Hope's mission. Members of Zips for Akron Hope spent November 23 tabling and spreading the message of the #ChadEffect. More than 50 people pledged to live life more intentionally because of this outreach. Go team!
We Had a Blast with Seeds of Change!
Seeds of Change had a Christmas Party after school at Helen Arnold in late November. There was dancing, cupcakes, and of course many smiles. It brings all of us here at Akron Hope so much joy knowing that we'll be bringing plenty more of those smiles in the coming weeks!
We Had some great opportunities to reach out to Community Members!
Early in November, a few Akron Hope Board Members met with Dr. Scott Scarborough, president of the University of Akron. We explained what Akron Hope's mission is and shared Chad's inspiring story with him. In the middle of November, we were able to attend a holiday party with the Akron Torchbearers! We shared laughs, food, and of course, what Akron Hope is all about. President of the Board Jen Vliet told Chad's story, the story of Charleston Hope, and Akron Hope's story. We are extremely grateful to the Torchbearers for their generosity and their continued support. Later in November, we had another chance to meet with President Scarborough, as well as many of the other student run organizations on campus who serve the community. This was a lovely breakfast where like-minded people discussed service and discovered ways to help each other. It was a very active month!
