Summary of Research
Bullying is mean and needs to stop now. A website states that bullying is, “unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.” People should be aware of this and try to help people not bully others. Although bullying was thought to be harmless in years past, it is now something that affects people in their entire life. According to Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center, “Bullying was once considered a simple, harmless rite of childhood experienced by many students. Today, research shows that bullying has significant short- and long-term effects that impact education, health and safety.” This clearly means that bullying is not only rude but that it affects things like education and even health. Other effects include nightmares, low self esteem, lack quality friendships at school, depression, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness and isolation. Furthermore, if bullying affects a person’s future so strongly, then people should do things to stop it. People can help bullying end by taking a stand and telling others to stop what they are doing. If you can show others that you don’t think that bullying is right, then most likely others will join you to. An article states, “Let others know that you don’t accept bullying at your school, and others will be more willing to speak up, too.” Basically, bullying is harmful and affects a person’s future more than people think. It needs to stop now.
