Akhenaten Pharaoh - A Day of Remembrance

Today would have been our old pharaoh's birthday who changed the whole Egyptian religion. He wanted us to believe in only the sun, Aten. Everybody in Egypt wanted Akhenaten to not be pharaoh anymore. After he died, Egypt was restored to Polytheism. The people of Egypt should never forget to stand up for what they believe in.

King Tutankhamen - Son of Akhenaten

Although King Akhenaten was a horrible pharaoh, his son, King Tutankhamen was a more tolerant leader. When the priests asked young King Tutankhamen if he would change the Egyptian religion back to Polytheism, he said yes. He was 9 when he became pharaoh and died at only age 18, but at least he listened to the people. He was young and did not do much during his reign, but his tomb was the best kept in history. At least he will be remembered for restoring peace and will also be remembered after his death!

This Week's Comic Strip

The earliest sun dial was known as a shadow clock in ancient Egyptian Astronomy. It is used in memorial to honor the pharaoh.

This comic strip was submitted by the Pharaoh's architect. Thanks, Bill! Our sun dials are so easy and portable to carry around! If only we could use them when working in the shade!

Games - Senet

A new board game called Senet has become very popular. Senet is an ancient Egyptian board game for two players. It is played on a 30 square board with 3 rows of 10 squares each. At the beginning of the game alternating colored markers are placed on the squares in the first row. The object of the game is move all of your pieces off the board by moving them in a zigzag pattern to the last square.Egyptians use four flat sticks that are dark on one side and light on the other. Depending on how the sticks land you can roll a 1,2,3,4, or 6. If you roll a 1,4, or 6 you get another turn.

Unfair Rules of Education

Things need to change in our school system. It is not fair that the only children that could get higher level education on the "Instruction of Wisdom" are wealthy boys. These boy are taught ethics, morality, and are trained to take over their father's high level positions. Isn't time that anyone could have the same opportunity to go to a specialized school? I think that anyone smart enough should be able to attend. Please send in your opinions to my column.
