How Are We Doing As A Community?
Qualities Admired in Our School
Our school culture suggests that all students should be prepared for college, though they may choose a different path such as trade school or immediately entering the job market. Many of our students finish school ready to work in the business community after doing internships during the year. Others are ready to enter a computer-based customer service setting. It is truly up to the students as to how far they will go. Some will go to work as servers in the restaurant or catering fields. Others will go to culinary school with the hopes of becoming a chef. Our teachers work hard to push all kids to their highest potential.
Leadership
Every department in every school has a department chair. Meetings are held once a month where information on best practices, state testing, changing trends in education, etc., are discussed. Our department chairs are considered leaders of their department. They share this information with their colleagues and continually keep them updated on changes in their subject area.
Attitude Towards Student Achievement
Our Credit Recovery program allows students to work during free periods or after school to make up credits for classes they have taken but did not pass. Teachers often volunteer their time to work with kids to help them be successful.
Teachers often rearrange their subject matter to accommodate other teachers. For instance, math teachers have changed their pacing guides to allow trig to be taught while it is also being covered in physics class.
