Welcome Back Sweet September....here we go!
We look forward to seeing families at our upcoming Open House BBQ on Wednesday September 27th 5:00-6:30. Food will be available starting at 5:00 and classrooms will be open for touring. Staff will be holding two 15 minute information or Q&A sessions in their classrooms to be held at 5:45 and 6:05. Families will be able to pre-order their $5 BBQ meal through our online hot lunch service. (lancaster.hotlunches.net, Access Code: LDHL). This online system helps our volunteer parents tremendously in terms of reducing the time it takes to manually organize the information and calculations. While it may not be this year, we hope to be able to offer an on-line payment option when a mechanism is approved through board policy.
We have a very active school community and we like to celebrate and support active lifestyles. This fall we be purchasing some additional bike racks to accommodate student riders and adding two outdoor basketball nets to the playground. Some classrooms are also exploring flexible seating to encourage students to identify their learning needs, help them with focus to work collaboratively and increase engagement.
Lancaster School Spirit Clothing is back! T-shirts, hoodies, hats, toques, and joggers can be ordered directly from our e-store at http://specialtytrophies.ca/lancasterpublicschool/
Orders can be delivered to the school and sent home with your child or can be picked up at Specialty Trophies directly.
Running Club, Karate, Boys and Girls soccer teams, Yearbook and Media Club, Lunch Helpers, Yard Buddies and Milk Helpers are all up and running at Lancaster. A busy start and students are ready to get involved and develop important leadership skills. More opportunities are coming as we look to encourage student voice in our building. We encourage all students to try something new this year. : )
Thank you for all of your support for a smooth start up. We look forward to another great year!
Yours in education,
Lani Fox and Sara Wellwood
