Back-To-School Message from Dr. Regan
Gering Families,
Each day, it is an honor and privilege to serve you and Gering Public Schools. It has been a fun and task-packed summer full of teacher learning, summer school engagement, leadership development and facility updates. With the start of our third year working together, I am excited to see the progress we are accomplishing together to create and sustain our high performing school district.
This summer, the district’s facility teams have been busy deep cleaning the schools, replacing carpets, refreshing rooms with new paint, and enhancing the grounds with proudful curb appeal projects. Although our enhancement projects may begin as small steps forward, we are making progress to address district endeavors towards premier campus facilities. Please be sure to extend a thank you to our summer facility crews who work tirelessly to meet deadlines this summer. They are summertime heroes to us!
Instruction and learning opportunities were endless this summer. To date, 160 students have successfully completed summer school with extended learning opportunities for elementary and secondary schools. Our new summer camp collaboration with Scottsbluff YMCA was an immense success for 50 new Bulldog campers who engaged in community-themed activities. Our teachers and support staff were continuously engaged in professional learning that included the Continuous Improvement Summit, BIST training, Trauma-Informed training, and ACT Training, just to name a few.
Gering Public Schools is an outstanding school district with extraordinary employees, positively engaged parents and a high performing school culture. The District motto, “ Learners today, Leaders tomorrow” is our driving force to ensure excellence for every student in our district. We are fully staffed with an extraordinary pool of talented certified teachers and support staff. This year, we have hired 20 new and dynamic educators as well as 20 new classified staff to join the Bulldog education family.
I am looking forward to this highly successful school year. As I reflect on our work, I am reminded of President John F. Kennedy’s 1962 speech where he inspired a generation to reach for the moon: “It is one of the greatest adventures of all time…we choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.” I look forward to inspiring our generation of Gering students to open doors toward personal innovation and achievement. We are a district of infinite possibilities; it is the spark from which all dreams begin. I look forward to this opportunity to welcome you back August 16th. As always, bring your enthusiasm and spirit for the day.
In closing, I wish all of you a fulfilling 2023-2024 school year highlighted with Bulldog pride and accomplishments that we will experience together.

Free & Reduced Meal Applications Now Available Through Infinite Campus!
Students may qualify for free or reduced meals, but you must take action to make it happen (one app per household).
Please follow the steps below:
Families can now complete the Free & Reduced Meal Application online in 3-5 minutes through Infinite Campus! Simply sign-on to Infinite Campus through the Student & Family Portal, select “more” and then “Meal Benefits” to walk through step-by-step. Submitting the application electronically ensures rapid processing!

NEW Student Activity Participation Fee (Grades 7-12)
NEW this school year is the implementation of an annual Activity Participation Fee of $35.00 for students participating in activities in grades 7-12.
This Activity Participation Fee will allow the student to receive a 2023-24 activity pass to attend Gering games and events. Fee waivers do apply (students qualifying for free or reduced meals will have this $35 fee waived).
Additionally, if your student participates in a sport or activity later in the school year, we encourage you to pay the fee NOW, so they can receive the activity pass benefit throughout the entire year!
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the purpose of a Student Activity Participation Fee? With costs for extracurricular activities rising (officials/judges, equipment, uniforms, etc.) and in an effort to reduce barriers to student attendance at events and activities (gate fees), we have implemented a standard Student Activity Fee for all 7-12 students participating in NSAA and school eligibility monitored activities.
- My (7-12) student participates in several activities, do they have to pay the $35 for each activity? No, the fee is annual and covers all activities for the entire year.
- My student only participates in a winter season activity, do I wait to pay the fee then? We actually encourage you to pay the Student Participation Fee NOW so that your student can receive the activity pass benefit throughout the entire school year.
- When/where will my student get their Activity Pass once I pay the Student Activity Fee? Students (7-8) can get their pass from the Gering Middle School office and students (9-12) can pick up their pass from the Gering High School beginning August 7th.
- What activities require the fee before participation? Any athletics or clubs and organizations that are NSAA sanctioned or require students to meet academic eligibility requirements.

- Family - $150 (immediate household only)
- Adult - $75
- Student (K-6) - $20
