Special Addition - Teacher Appreciation Week
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
Teachers inspire curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. They’re experts at boosting confidence through the right mix of motivation and instruction. They serve alternately as mediators, supportive listeners, and all-around problem fixers. And in the past two school years, they persevered despite the challenges thrown their way amid the COVID-19 pandemic. National Teacher Appreciation Week is a chance to thank educators for all they do to ensure that students succeed in school and in life.
Let your children’s teachers know you recognize their hard work. Use some of the ideas below or just send them an email or a message through Remind. Your message could point out something you admire about teachers and their work from home, or it might describe one way the teacher has helped your child.
Please join the PV Admin Team and the PTA in celebrating our amazing PV teachers and staff!
Thank you,

Here’s a recap of April’s meeting
Interested in our STEM program for your child next year? If so, read below
The STEM Program approaches learning differently than our traditional classroom setting. It is a Project-Based Learning Environment (meaning they work in teams to solve problems). They share thoughts and ideas with each other, they work as a team to reach a common goal, and they persevere together to solve problems and really take ownership of their own learning. It’s a different model than a traditional classroom, but they do use the same elementary curriculum. If your child is approved for the STEM program, it is offered at our Pleasant Valley Elementary School location.
If you are interested in the STEM program for your child(ren) for next year and are not currently in the STEM program, you can apply using this link: https://www.parmacityschools.org/Page/8875
If you're not sure if your child is appropriate for STEM, call us! (440) 842-7993 Allison Kokley, Dean of STEM Students would be happy to help you and answer any questions you have.
Transportation will not be provided for families wishing to enroll their students in STEM Project-Based Learning unless the child already lives within the transportation eligibility zones of that building. Of course, parents may provide transportation to that building if their student is eligible for the program.
Camp Invention is BACK!!
Thanks to amazing reviews from parents, teachers and — most importantly — campers, we’re bringing Camp Invention back to Pleasant Valley Elementary from June 13th-17th! Spark your kid’s creativity and build their confidence with our all-new program, Explore! Campers incoming to grades K-6 will collaborate with friends in hands-on, open-ended STEM adventures designed to inspire curiosity, stretch imaginations and give your explorer an epic summer experience. They’ll dive into ocean research with their own robotic fish, develop inventions for space exploration, build a spinning robotic artist and design a mega marble arcade!
