Chester Elementary School
November 15, 2019
Greetings CES Families & Friends,
We are going into our last week of school before our Thanksgiving break (no school Nov 25-29). Teachers will be doing a variety of projects with students to count our many blessings. We want to thank all of our families for being a part of our Chester Elementary community, and wish you an enjoyable Thanksgiving break with family and friends.
This week we've captured several pictures demonstrating our wonderful teachers and many of our outstanding volunteers providing small group instruction to our students. Small group instruction is a highly effective strategy to support students' learning at their own levels. We strive to provide small group instruction in both ready and math 3+ times/week. Small group instruction can be provided by adult volunteers with the guidance of the teacher. We are incredibly fortunate and grateful for our many adult volunteers who join us each week at CES. Thank you parents, grandparents and friends who join us to provide an outstanding elementary experience for our students!
Food Science Lab . We're fortunate to have a little extra space in one of our modulars to support a growing food science lab. Ms. Bainbridge spent several afternoons and evenings to clean up and organize the space. Teachers and staff have been using this room for some food science projects which includes hypothesizing, experimenting, measuring, writing and other valuable skills. If you happen to have an extra microwave, large toaster oven or small dorm-size refrigerator and need to get rid of it, please let us know. We may be able to use it in our new space. Thanks!
Reading each night? 20 minutes/night. Send me your pictures and your favorite books and we'll put them in an upcoming newsletter!
Chester Elementary PTA. Please click on the link below to learn more about the many benefits of PTA, and consider joining by visiting the office to pick up a form. Cost is only $6.
Taco Dinner November 19! Please join us for a festive evening and an enjoyable dinner, and support our wonderful PTA friends. All money raised supports the many PTA activities that support our students. 5:00-7:00 pm this Tuesday! Thanks!
Plumas Rural Services offers parenting support classes. Our children don't come with owner's manuals and there's no shame in learning how to become a better parent for the benefit of your child. For more information please visit their site: https://www.plumasruralservices.org/parenting/index.html Thanks for considering.
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and teaming with us to make 2019-2020 an exceptional elementary experience for our students. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
