Announcements for March 24th through March 30th
STEM event for high-school and college women
Trailblazers is conference/networking event that focuses on increasing female representation in STEM-related careers by giving high school and college women an opportunity to explore STEM-related education and job options in an open, collaborative and fun setting. Corteva Agriscience is teaming up with Keyot to host the award-winning Trailblazers event in Des Moines. Here are some specifics:
- Who: Female high school and college students who are interested in learning more about science, technology, engineering and/or math education and career opportunities. Parents/Guardians are highly encouraged to attend, too!
- What: Great opportunities to get information and interact directly with Des Moines-area STEM professionals:
o Female STEM Professionals Panel – Trailblazers will kick-off with a panel discussion by female STEM career professionals who will answer questions and share information about their backgrounds and experiences and what “a day in the life” of a STEM professional is like.
o Networking Session – students will adjourn to an open networking session where they can meet other attendees and talk one-on-one with STEM professionals about their experiences and the variety of STEM career options that are available. (Refreshments will be provided.)
- Where: Corteva Agriscience, Carver Center – 7000 NW 62nd Street, Johnston, Iowa
- When: April 18, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:30)

Please order your softball apparel by Monday, April 15th, 2019 (11:59 pm CDT)
Your order will be available for pickup from Andrea Ehlers at the Softball Field in 2-4 weeks from the store deadline.
ATTENTION 11th GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Please be aware that the Iowa Department of Public Health has made changes to the Iowa Immunization law regarding the Meningococcal vaccine starting the 2017/18 school year. All students entering 12th grade must have proof of having two meningococcal vaccines before school starts their senior year. There is NO grace period for the implementation of this requirement. In order for your student to attend the first day of school in August, written proof of these two vaccines must be received in the High School Health Office.
Please make arrangements now to receive these vaccines and provide written proof to your school nurse as soon as possible. Thank you for your attention to this new requirement.
Attention Juniors: CPR REQUIREMENT FOR GRADUATION
The Healthy Kids Act (Senate File 2425) requires all students by the end of grade twelve shall complete a certification course for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. CPR can be taken with the nurse during flex your senior year, or you can take the Red Cross online CPR course at aeak12online.org Sign in using your school Google account. Select one of two CPR courses (Adult only or Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED). Once you complete the course, print off the certificate and bring it to the nurse.
