Hi! I know I have been sending out lots of emails the past few weeks. This is a very busy time for the band and the volunteer need is greater than any other time of the year. I send out emails when we have empty spots on our sign ups. I could send out fewer emails, but then we wouldn't get the volunteers we need. We'd love to see each and every parent join in the fun. I know it isn't always possible, but if you can spare a few hours here and there, it makes a huge difference and you would not know anyone who was more appreciative than the band.

Send a SHOUT OUT to your band student for Area!
The Boyd Band is heading to Area, October 30th. They have been working extremely hard to perfect their show. Help spread a little fun, support, and excitement through a Shout Out. Deadline THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28th at NOON.
What is a Shout Out?
A Shout Out is a short, personal, positive message from you to one or more band students, group of band students, or the entire band.
How does it work?
Send your school appropriate message via email to boydbandspiritwear@gmail.com by 12pm on Thursday, October 28th. It will then be read on the bus by the bus chaperones on the way to UIL.
What needs to be included with your message?
Your email to boydbandspiritwear@gmail.com must state who you would like the message to be read to (it can be to a single student, a group of students, or the entire band). It must also contain the student's instrument they play, section, and the sender's name. If you know which bus they ride on include the bus number. If it is to different students, provide the information needed per student as they may ride different busses.
Who can submit messages?
Any family member, friend, or band student, may send a Shout Out.
All messages must be positive, supportive, and school appropriate.
DEADLINE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28th AT 12PM.

Hawaii Information and Google Form questionaire
This "blurb" will be long, but please read the below information and FILL OUT THIS BOYD TRIP 2022 google form by Friday 10/15.
First, Hawaii is still on. BUT, new information has come to light and I want to be transparent in our process and decisions.
I think all would agree, we just want to be able to do a trip this year and not have another taken away from us. But the below information could change the participation level of the trip and we need to make the choice that will best suit the full band.
1.Are we still on? Yes! We are still planning to move ahead with the trip. At this time our Health & Safety team has not identified any reasons to stay away from Hawaii as a destination.
2. Is there protocols that I need to let my parents know about (Vaccine proof/mandates) that would affect their ability to travel? Yes, I’ve added these to the section below.
3. What does it look like to the potential of being allowed to travel to HI? At this time, no travel restrictions, just some guidelines to keep on your radar (again, these may change by next May).
4. Is there a time/deadline if it looks like HI isn't going to work to swap to a trip like Disney? Yes, you can change your trip dates and/or trip destination up to (45) days prior to travel with no penalty. However, if you are looking at Disney as an alternative, I’d recommend making the change sooner. For instance, we would need to start the ticketing process for Disney groups about 3-6 months in advance because Disney protocols have been updated and become more restrictive.
5. What is the cancellation policy for those families? Any individuals who purchased the Full Refund Program would be eligible for a full refund less the cost of the program ($239) and any non-refundable fees (like handling fees, as an example). Any individuals who did not purchase FRP will fall under the standard cancellation policy, below. As an update, (88) individuals have purchased FRP and (22) individuals have not.
Cancellation Dates and Penalties (APT)
• 180+ days prior to departure- 20% penalty
• 179-90 days prior to departure- 35% penalty
• 89-60 days prior to departure- 50% penalty
• 59-45 days prior to departure- 75% penalty
• 44-0 days prior to departure- not eligible for a refund
Below are some links to Hawaii’s health & safety restrictions at this time with a couple of notes:
- WorldStrides requires a negative covid test result 3-5 days prior to travel
- Travelers to Hawaii must be fully vaccinated in the United States and its Territories to avoid the current 10-day quarantine.
- Not fully vaccinated Travelers can take a pre-travel Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) 72 hours from the final leg of departure to avoid the 10-day quarantine.
- The COVID-19 test must be taken with a Hawaiian approved Testing partner ONLY. Test results will only be accepted from Trusted Testing and Travel Partners.
- Prior to your departure for Hawai‘i, passengers age 18 years or older, need to create an online user account and register with the State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i program; and upload vaccination documents or test results.
- Chaperones will be able to add students to their accounts.
- Upon completion of the Mandatory State of Hawai‘i Travel and Health Form 24 hours prior to departure, a QR code for will be emailed to you to present to airport personnel either prior to boarding or when you arrive in Hawai‘i. You may show the QR code on your mobile phone or paper copy.
- We are also starting to see vaccination requirements for restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, museums, arcades and other similar establishments – beginning this week in Oahu & Maui. Customers must show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result taken within the previous 48 hours in order to enter certain in establishment.
