Camp Mi-Bro-Be Reminders for Firewalkers team
Team Firewalkers Families,
Your child heads out to camp tomorrow. We want to provide a few reminders about their time away. First, a reminder that all students must pack a lunch for the first day. Tomorrow, parents are to bring children with reinforced luggage (not single ply garbage bags) to the school by 8:45am. A truck will be in the main parking lot by the Auditorium doors to accept all belongings except the lunches. Students will then meet in the cafeteria and buses will depart before 10:00am.
On Friday, students will return to school shortly after noon. The truck will be unloaded in the back bus area. When buses arrive, they will also unload in the back bus area. Parents are permitted to park in this area for pick-up since it is before buses arrive for school dismissal.
It is also a policy of camp that students may NOT have their personal cell phones at camp. This is partially due to complications with the devices and there is also a lack of signal on the property. There are landlines available if the staff need to contact parents. Please do not send cell phones, mp3s or other electronics to camp.
A strong warning was also given to students about bringing snacks (or any other food items) to camp. Being in the wild means that all types of critters of various sizes can be strongly attracted to food smells from candy, cookies, etc.
Finally, questions can be directed to Dr. Ruman via email and he can respond when he is not at camp. ( wruman@bereaschools.org )
Thanks and have a great week at camp Firewalkers!
Big Catch!
Adam Strizak, 6th Grade Team Adventurers, and Mrs. Getz and her son, Charlie, have been awarded for their catches by Fish Ohio!
"Adam Strizak and Team Getz caught “Fish Ohio” record size fish during the week of September 16-20, 2019 at Camp Mi-Bro-Be.
While using nothing more than a cane pole, a bobber , and a worm on a hook...Adam was able to catch a 23 inch, 7 lb, largemouth bass. Team Getz caught a 21.5 inch, 5 lb 13 oz, largemouth bass also.
Adam and Team Getz's incredible catches qualify them for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources “Fish Ohio” recognition program.
Each angler with a qualifying catch receives a certificate and a collectible “Fish Ohio” lapel pin.
Most people live their entire life without catching a “Fish Ohio,” - so congratulations on your incredible catch Adam and Team Getz!!"
