The Board of Education provides a "Board Meeting Summary" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a brief description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations and action items. NOTE: In the interest of safety for Board and staff members, as well as the school community, the meeting format was adjusted. Due to current Executive Order requirements social distancing guidelines were in effect.

Presentations

  • Celebration Video | watch

    7th and 8th grade students participated in the 44th Annual Science Contest at Fenwick High School. Hadley placed 3rd overall. Congratulations, Hadley students and teachers!

  • Dual Language Parent Survey Results | watch
    Director of Language Programs Dr. Theresa Ulrich presented data from the dual language parent survey that was administered last spring. She shared that the survey results indicate that parents are very satisfied with the dual language program.


Superintendent's Report

  • Saliva Testing Update | watch
    Dr. Kaczkowski shared that to date 2161 students and 283 staff have opted into COVID-19 surveillance. The participation numbers continue to increase. She also reviewed the variety of reasons for why an individual may not be participating. She talked about the dashboard of the district’s COVID-19 surveillance data and shared that we are continuing to improve and adjust the dashboard data. Dr. Kaczkowski shared that District 41 is becoming a model for surveillance testing and that she has been engaging with other districts and sharing our experiences.
  • New DuPage County Metrics | watch
    DuPage remains in substantial transmission. New cases per 100,000 is increasing again. The county shared that we are seeing the data bouncing up and down, but that we are remaining in the upper levels and in substantial.
  • Additional Clarification to Questions | watch
    Dr. Kaczkowski shared that we have been gathering and monitoring questions and adjusting our communications to include topics that the district community is asking about. She went through some questions that have come up on multiple occasions and answered them.

  • Review FY 2021 Levy Questions Assistant Superintendent for Finance, Facilities and Operations Eric DePorter offered to answer any questions about the levy prior to the vote later in the meeting. Board members had no questions.

The Board authorized Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Marci Conlin the ability to hire positions that will need to start before the January 11, 2021 Board meeting.
