Wind Symphony 50 Day Challenge

Wind Symphony students are challenged with practice for 50 days leading up to the All-Region Auditions in November. Students must write the number of the practice session on the calendar and parents MUST SIGN EACH DAY for it to count. A practice session must last a MINIMUM of 20 minutes and private lessons, rehearsals, and performances DO NOT COUNT for this challenge. Students who reach the 50 day challenge goal will be invited to a movie party before the Winter Break. Students are encouraged to PLAN AHEAD for days off because they are only 62 days until the audition. Good luck!!!

All 8th grade band students are invited to walk in the first ever Sachse HS Homecoming Parade. We will meet at City Hall at 5:00pm to line up. The parade starts at 6:15pm at City Hall and ends at the Sachse HS Stadium for a community pep rally.

Band Fest Ticket Sales

The Hudson MS Band has 275 tickets to sell for the GISD Band Festival taking place on Monday, October 7. The event is held at HBJ Stadium and begins at 6:30pm. There are no refunds given and no rain date in the event of a cancellation due to bad weather. Tickets are $4 each and can be purchased from any Wind Symphony student beginning this week. If you are not familiar with any of our Wind Symphony members, please send Mrs. Becker an email to request tickets for your family.

The Band Fest is a great night to see ALL of the wonderful bands in GISD perform. The ticket sales also go directly back to our band program, so our goal is to sell ALL of our tickets!

GISD Band Fest Program Ads

On Monday, October 7, Garland ISD will host the annual Band Festival at HBJ Stadium. This event will showcase EVERY band program in the district and attract an extremely large audience.

There are 2 opportunities to place advertisements in the Band Fest program. The first is a "Shout Out" for students. If you are interested in placing a "Shout Out" to your student/section/band, the order form can be found HERE. The deadline to place "Shout Out" ads is September 20.

The other ad option is a business ad. There are over 5000 audience members in attendance at Band Fest each year, making this a wonderful opportunity to showcase your business. If you'd like to place a business ad, the order form can be found HERE. The deadline for business ads is September 13.

**The great thing about ads in the Band Fest program is that 40% of the proceeds from the ads go back to the band program the student participates in. **

Practice Records for ALL STUDENTS

All students should be inputting practice log minutes in Charms every day. We have gone over how to input the minutes in all classes. This is a weekly grade and very important for the growth of each musician. If you are having trouble logging into Charms, please contact Mrs. Becker to have your password reset.

This link shows step by step how to log minutes in Charms. Please contact Mrs. Becker or Mr. Urban if you have any questions.
