Conditions
- They are trapped in lives of misery living in poor housing usually
- Often beaten, starved, and forced to work as prostitutes or to take grueling jobs as domestic, restaurant, or factory workers with little or no pay
Outcomes
- The captives are so afraid and intimidated that they rarely speak out against their traffickers, even when faced with an opportunity to escape
- Some women enslaved become terrified of anybody in uniform, and completely dependent on their pimp
- Some of the enslaved develop Stockholm Syndrome where they begin to identify with their captor
