MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Kia ora koutou Te Kura O Hato Mere whānau,
The ‘Light of Christ’ is certainly shining brightly in our tamariki as the sun warms the earth and brings light and joy to everyone's face.
Wind is typical here in Marlborough however it has not been a major factor so far. Hopefully Tawhirimatea continues to make the days bearable and leave us standing on our feet.
Athletics day was one of the hottest days this term. Thanks to the continued support of McKendry Ford and Mazda, the Cancer Society and the SMF (Saint Mary’s Friends) we were able to have 6 tents on the infield to keep the children out of the sun during the events. Plenty of sunscreen and wearing of hats was essential.
So much fun was had, personal boundaries pushed and personal bests surpassed. I always love to be with the children when they are outside recreating and challenging themselves.
Thank you to the parents for your support on the day especially those who helped to run an event. Great banter and plenty of positivity made the day go so fast and be the best it could be for the tamariki.
Our inclusive, supportive, whānau culture at Te Kura O Hato Mere once again shone through as tamariki were talking each other up with kind words and actions throughout the day. They really do reflect the beatitudes and the high standards we hold dear to our heart as you do with your parenting.
We are continually blessed by your children's presence here at school and thankful for your continued positive support as we grow in Love, joy, happiness and faith.
Have an amazing weekend as a whanau. Remember to slip, slop, slap and wrap!
May God bless you all
Yours ‘In Christ’s Light’
Paddy Dowling
TE WHETU O TE MOANA l STAR OF THE SEA - MARLBOROUGH CATHOLIC PARISH
Hello, Kia ora, Kumusta, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Bula, Namaste.
Greetings to Parents, Whanau, Staff, and the Pre-School Community,
Following the announcement back in September of Mr Dowling's imminent departure most of the Board's attention has been focused on how to find a rockstar to replace him.
As the news filtered out into the community we began to field expressions of interest from all over the country, but given the importance of the role there is a stringent procedure to follow.
With another seven months still to go before Mr Dowling plans to hand over the school keys. Our process to find a replacement will begin with an advert in the Education Gazette
The Board of Trustees would like to encourage you all to take the time to complete this short survey - St Mary’s School Parents & Whanau New Principal Criteria 2022 before Friday the 25th November which will contribute to the appointment process and show a reflection of our strong school community. The information will be used to form the criteria for the Board to select a Principal who best fits our Catholic faith based school values, our diverse community and our ‘reflect Christ's light’ vision.
The Principal role will be advertised nationwide in the New Year and we will work through the appointment process with support from the Catholic Education Office in Wellington. We hope to make an announcement of the successful applicant by week 4 of Term 1 in 2023.
God Bless
St Mary’s School
