Digital Citizenship Awareness

As part of the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and the Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act, Ohio Schools are required to educate minors about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms, and cyberbullying awareness and response.

In an effort to address this mandate, The Technology Department of Sycamore Community Schools has developed five modules, or lessons that students in each grade level (starting in kindergarten) will be taught. The modules will be lead by our Media Specialist, Cathie Ashton and your child's classroom teacher. The lessons are interactive and grade-appropriate and will be taught to all our elementary students in the month of October. Our goal is to create effective digital citizens who are responsible, appropriate and intelligent about using technology tools in the 21st century.

Not too late to help!!

Did you notice the amazing programs happening with our school so far this year? Family Fun Night, Symmes Stars, tower garden, and Symmes Steppers are just a start. We are working on a clothing drive, 4th grade spelling bee, book fair, upcoming class parties, AND each teacher has been given some funds for classroom needs!

Did you miss a chance to help our school by participating in the Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser?
