Tiger News Letter 1/23/22
Dear Tiger Parent Community
Parents please be reminded that school starts promptly at 7:55 and our Tardy bell rings at 8:05. It is important that you make sure that your child arrives to school on time to ensure that they are not missing any instructional time. Also parents not only is it important that our students arrive to school on time but that they present at school daily so they can receive their maximum amount of instructional time. Also parents it is important that we maintain current contact information for each of our students. With that being said please make sure that if phone numbers or addresses are changed that you communicate those changes to the front office so that we can update the information in PowerSchool which will allow us to be able to maintain communication with you concerning your child and activities that are taking place at Williamston Primary. As always we thank you for all you do for Williamston Primary School.

Grade Level & Department News
First Grade: Hello from First Grade! Next week, we will be moving from fiction texts to informational texts and learning about penguins. We will also be exploring text features in nonfiction texts. Our Letterland skill for the week is long o and long i with silent e. Please be sure your child is reading daily, studying sight words, and spelling words.
Second Grade: Greetings from Second Grade! Next week we will continue to discuss the differences in points of view of characters. In Letterland we will spell words with double o and o that makes the /oo/ sound. We will work on comparing three digit numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to in Math and continue to discuss patterns that affect weather in Science. Please continue to read AR books, study spelling words, and complete homework each night. As a grade level, many of our students aren’t performing well on their spelling test. It is important that students study their words each night.
*Our grade level has been asked to participate in our up-coming PTA Meeting that will take place on February 21, 2023 at 6:30 pm. We will be presenting a Black History Program. If you haven’t responded to the letter sent home by teachers last week, please do so as soon as possible.
Resource:
Music: Multicultural songs and folk tunes are enjoyed while students accompany on instruments such as autoharps, resonator bells, and hand chimes! It is encouraging to hear that several students received musical instruments for Christmas and birthdays these last several weeks! Musical
Library: The online school store fundraiser will kickoff the week of JAN 23. We have done this each year for a while. Students can earn a slap bracelet pet the first week when returning a complete packet. They can earn more prizes throughout the year as people purchase items online. Look for more information coming home with your students. This fundraiser also rewards our hard working teachers for them to be able to purchase items for their classrooms!
From the School Nurse's Desk:
Hello everyone! I would like to remind parents/guardians that if a student has fever 100.4 or greater, vomiting or diarrhea, they must go home and cannot return to school until it’s been 24 hours since the fever (without fever reducing medications), vomiting, or diarrhea. This is in addition to the negative COVID test (at-home test results are now acceptable). Keeping your children healthy while promoting a safe and healthy learning environment is important to all of us!
