*These four students qualified for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) which was in in Pittsburgh, PA this year. To qualify for ISEF, these students won a medal for their grade, across all project categories, in the Delaware Valley Science Fair. Prathysha Kothare placed third in the nation and earned an award of $1,000.
Regular Meeting
2018-19 General Fund Budget
The School Board unanimously approved the 2018-19 School Board Budget in the amount of $179,349,218 and a real estate tax rate of 15.42 mills ($1.542 per $100 of assessed valuation of taxable property.) View the full press release. The budget was unanimously approved by all nine school board directors.
St. Luke's Medical Partnership
The School Board authorized the agreement between Parkland School District and St. Luke's Physician Group, Inc. for athletic trainer/physician services and for school physician services for an initial term of three (3) years beginning July 1, 2018 and for an option by the School District to renew for a renewal term of two (2) years beginning July 1, 2021. Roundtable
Bob Bold gave a Legislative Report and noted that the State Budget was approved this week.
Rob Cohen and Lisa Roth did not support cyber charter payments on the grounds that cyber charter school performance does not merit public support.
Lisa Roth stated that she is going to submit a proposal for PSBA's legislative platform next year that regarding Charter Schools. She is going to ask that they tackle funding for cyber and brick and mortar charters separately when advocating for funding reform.
Everyone said it was great to see all the students who were recognized this evening. Mr. Vignone and Mr. Sniscak thanked the Board for their support of the budget and the Board reciprocated their thanks for all of the preparation.
