Bear Bulletin
Week of October 3
Welcome fall!
Dear Ballentine Families,
Fall is one of my favorite times of year! The mornings have a nice, cool nip in the air
and the warmer afternoons bring clear blue skies and colorful foliage. It’s also the time
of year when students start layering clothing since it can be quite chilly in the mornings
which means our lost and found starts to fill up! Please take a moment to label your
child’s jackets, sweaters, gloves, etc with a first and last name so that if they are found
somewhere in the building, we can quickly get them back to the correct owner.
We have some wonderful events coming up soon and hope that you will join us for the fun!
See the calendar list below so you can save the date! We are especially excited to announce the return of our fall family night event that is coming up on Friday, October 21st from 5:30 – 7:00. This will be a family friendly trunk or treat style event will take place on our bus loop. Each homeroom, along with our related areas, special services, and admin team will have tables decorated for a fun evening of treats. Children are welcome to wear costumes, we just ask that they be family friendly, and not have masks or pretend weapons. To make it even more fun, the book fair will be open late, so you can make your rounds on the bus loop, then head inside to check out some great books!

Directory Information
According to school board policy JRA, Public Use of School Records, directory information regarding students will be handled in a manner consistent with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as amended.
Information that the District has designated as “directory information” regarding a student may be released to outside organizations upon request and without prior written consent from the parent/eligible student. The District defines directory information as a student’s name, address, telephone number, photograph, grade level, school to which he/she is assigned, years of attendance at that school, awards received, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, and weight and height of athletic team members. Outside organizations requesting directory information include, but are not limited to, companies that manufacture class rings or publish yearbooks. In addition, the No Child Left Behind Act requires that local high schools must provide military recruiters, upon request, access to secondary school students’ names, addresses, and telephone listings.
If you do not wish Ballentine Elementary School to disclose directory information from your child’s education records without your prior written consent, you must notify the School in writing no later than 30 calendar days after the first day of school.
