Refusal Strategies


Do this calmly and clearly. Use expressions such as

“I’d rather not.”


State your feelings. Tell the other person that the

suggested activity or behavior goes against your values

or beliefs.


  • Propose a safe, healthful activity to do instead.


  • Make it clear that you don’t intend to back down from

your position. Look directly into the other person’s eyes.


  • If the other person continues to pressure you, or simply

won’t take no for an answer, just walk away.

Harassment and Bullying

Did you know that if someone is constantly asking you to accept a drug it is bullying or harassment. These things can put you down and hurt your mental and emotional health. Make sure to not get angry, that will just make the situation worse. Take a deep breath express your feeling and things should work out.
