Starting next year, the School will offer girls lacrosse at the middle and upper school level. Upper school math teacher Melissa Moore, who has participated in lacrosse for the last 10 years, will coach our inaugural girls' teams. She will offer an informational meeting this fall.
Coach Moore began her lacrosse career at Milton High School and quickly rose within the program to the center stage of competition in Georgia and beyond. As a senior captain in high school, she was awarded the Andrew J. Oswald Scholarship to play at the University of Georgia and dedicated four years to competing at the D1 Club Level.
At UGA, Coach Moore helped lead her team to multiple Southeastern Women’s Lacrosse League Championships, was nominated to the All-SWLL team in 2013, and led the Bulldogs to make program history by clinching a top-five finish at the WDIA National Tournament.
Today, she continues to contribute to the growth of lacrosse through coaching. Her short history with EagleStix, Milton’s Club league, already includes leading two teams to championship games and one to a national invitational. Coach Moore also previously served as a lead varsity coach at Lambert High School in Forsyth, Georgia.
“More than titles, more than trophies, more than state rings, I want to make my passion clear,” she said. “It is my hope to share God’s love with these girls as they learn firsthand the power of teamwork, the distinction of good sportsmanship, and the integrity of commitment.”
Coach Moore currently teaches Algebra I and Geometry in the Upper School and will marry Alex Miller on July 9. “Coach Miller” will be ready to take the field with Mount Pisgah’s first girls’ lacrosse teams in spring 2017.
