HJH Golden "H" Award
Dixi Russell, 8th Grade US History
Ms. Russell is one of those people that is always on a mission for kids. She is a hard worker, enthusiastic about learning, and makes US History entertaining and fun for students. She is a quiet leader on the campus.
Staff members that nominated her say that she "is always willing to help out in any situation." Others have noticed that "she is exceptional with her students and she cares deeply for them. She is very energetic in her teaching methods and students love her!"
Thank you, Ms. Russell, for your dedication to our students, your team, and our campus. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
8th Grade Field Trip
What: College & Career Inspire
Wear: HJH or Purple Tee
Buses will leave 1st period and will visit Maude Cobb Convention Center for "Career Inspire" and then visit Kilgore College. Students will do a picnic lunch on campus before having a tour, and we will return to campus about 3:15.
6th Grade Field Trip
Where: Marshall Symphony Orchestra
Dress: Nice but not formal
Students will be leaving 1st period and returning before lunch.
We will follow normal schedule when we return. :)

- Homework Help is available every morning in our GCS lab (200 hall). Students to not need a pass.
- Attendance is taken every class period.
- Please mark students tardy when it is a habit.
- Bobcat Notes of Success will be in your boxes for MP2.
- Try to give at least 1 "cool cat" per day. Per period if you can.

"The Sisters," Ginny McDonald & Carolyn Cole (2) are joining us full time as of today. Carolyn joins our behavior redirection team and Ginny is a classroom assistant, working in GCS and many classrooms. We are so happy about them being official members of the HJH family.

Giving students time to verbalize their learning increases the likelihood that they will remember it. On a typical day, we should be utilizing this strategy for every 10-15 minutes of lecture/whole group.
This month we are adding "Recognize & Reinforce." Please watch the clip below to learn more and begin to try it out in your classroom.

- 6th Choir - teachers will send you a list of those participating
- Boy Scouts - right now it's just Ubaldo Ayala
Parade:
- Have students wear Red, White, and Blue
- They may bring little flags and can make signs in Study Hall
- I'll send a Remind 101 to staff when it's time to line up along Bobcat Lane. We should flank both sides starting at the visitor's parking lot.
Students with family members that are Veterans:
Forms are available with the receptionist and should be returned by the 8th.
