Ms. Vogt's Shining Stars

November 4th-8th

Numbers, Numbers, Numbers!

Dear CARE ISD Families,

Another week has gone by in Ms. Vogt's shining stars classroom! Your children have been quite busy this week and have been working very hard! For Math this week we learned all about one-digit numerals! We are learning how to write, recognize, and name the numbers 0-9! In Social Studies we are learning about "our world" and the people who make it up. This week we focused on community workers. We had several guests speakers from within our community come and talk to the students: a police officer, firefighter, doctor, a mail carrier, and a veterinarian! For Science, we are learning about the life cycle of a flower. The students learned about the various stages of the flower, starting with the seed, then the seed with the root, the seed with the leaves, until it finally turns into a flower. In Language Arts we are learning about rhyming words! Next week we will be going on a field trip to the fire station for Social Studies, to learn more about fire fighters and fire safety! Don't forget to print off a copy of the field trip permission slip form that's attached below. Please sign the form and return it with your child to school on Monday.

I have asked the boys and girls to find a number one-digit number at home and bring it to school on Monday. We are going to have a number scavenger hunt and make a number line with the numbers that we find! If you could help your child with this activity, it would be greatly appreciated!

Enjoy the weekend!

Silly Number Rhymes

1- A straight line down is lots of fun, thats because it's number one
2- Around and back on a railroad track. TWO! TWO!
3- Around a tree and around a tree, that's the way to make a three
4- Down and over and down some more, that's the way we make a four
5- Over and down and then go around, A fat old five is what you've found
6- Six is found by going down and around
7- Across the sky and down from heaven that's the way to make a seven
