COVID-19 Update
COVID-19 Update
Gwinnett County Public Schools is continuing to use Digital Learning Days to deliver instruction to students during the COVID-19 school closures. As part of the school district’s support during Digital Learning, student meals are available for pick up at 67 school sites and by delivery at school bus stops in specific clusters. Beginning Tuesday, April 7, the meal service will expand to include both breakfast and lunch items distributed at the same time. The pick-up at school sites takes place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. every school day. Gwinnett school buses make stops at regular bus stops between 11 a.m. and noon in designated clusters. It is important to remember that in order to receive a meal, the child must be present at the school site or at the bus stop when the bus arrives. These meals are available at no cost to anyone 18 years of age or younger, no matter which school a child attends. A list of school sites offering meals for pick up, and the clusters and schools where delivery is provided, can be found on the district website.
Remember that we all play a role in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Wash your hands frequently, stay home and away from others if you are ill, and practice social distancing. Keep safe and stay well.
These are trying times for us all. While those with little ones to care for adjust to the new normal of working from home, keeping a regular schedule is a new challenge.
Although school-age children continue their studies online, there still is a good bit of idle time. Taking walks in the neighborhood, playing video games, watching reruns on TV does help wile away the hours, but it leaves little opportunity to explore one’s creative side.
To reduce screen time and keep those creative juices flowing, the city of Peachtree Corners is launching an arts project called “Color Our Heroes” to help recognize the men and women who are keeping us safe during the pandemic.
Each week, for the next four weeks, a new coloring sheet will be available on the city’s website to download. The first week depicts doctors and nurses, the second, garbage collectors, the third police and EMS personnel and the fourth week will feature teachers.
We are asking everyone to show off their artwork by posting on their front door or window at home. Additionally, we encourage you to post your completed artwork on your social media pages using the hashtags, #colorourheroes, #colorourheroesptc, #peachtreecornersga or #peachtreecorners.
As a thanks and to show appreciation for your efforts, each week a winner will be selected from a random drawing and will receive a gift card from a local business.
Please take time now to download the PDF, put your personal touches on the image, scan and share with your friends and find a prominent place to post at your residence.
Follow these steps to download the image:
- Visit www.peachtreecornersga.gov
- Locate the “Residents” tab
- In the pull-down menu click on “Color Our Heroes”
- Select a PDF or PNG file to download
Watch for more images in the coming weeks that you can download, color, and display. We look forward to seeing your unique artwork.
Parents, be sure to send a copy of your child's artwork and your contact information via email to info@peachtreecornersga.gov to enter the gift-card drawing.
Note: If you have a private social media account and still want to be part of the random drawing for gift cards to support our local businesses do one of the following
- Send an email with a picture of your colored drawing to info@peachtreecornersga.gov with the subject title “Color Our Heroes” to be entered in the drawing.
- Send a Direct Message via Facebook to www.facebook.com/peachtreecornersga/
- Send a Direct Message via Instagram to either @peachtreecornersga or @peachtree_corners_network with a picture of your colored drawing to be entered.

Rising 9th Grade Students: Opportunity- Summer Health/Physical Education
Dear 8th Parents and Students:
Re: 8th Grade Celebration
Parents and Students,
The unprecedented times we are living through have caused many changes and cancellations. Because schools are closed through the end of the school year, all school related events must be cancelled. Unfortunately, our 8th Grade Celebration has to be cancelled as well. While we find this incredibly disappointing, we know this decision complies with social distancing guidelines and the Governor’s decision to close schools through the end of the school year.
The 8th Grade Celebration is funded by parents through payments on MyPaymentsPlus. Less than twenty students registered for the event before the payment window was closed. Those families have had their payments refunded to the credit card which they used to make the purchase. Because no funds will be collected from students, no tee shirts will be available for the event.
Our hearts are saddened by all of the milestones our students will miss this year, particularly the milestones which close out students’ experiences as they end their time at Pinckneyville. We wish all of our 8th graders the very best as they begin their high school careers in August. We are so proud of all they have accomplished at Pinckneyville, and we know they will change our world!
