WEEKLY AVIATOR UPDATE
September 16 - 24
A message from the principal
Lunch/Aves Bell Update
After assessing the safety and effectiveness of our lunch schedule and Aviator Bell, and considering student and family input, we will be following the plan listed below for the duration of the semester:
1. We will remain with a two-lunch system, arranged by grade level.
2. Seating will be in the Commons and the HUB to accommodate for appropriate space.
3. Additional adult supervision will be present to ensure the safety of all students at lunch.
4. In Aviator Bell: if students need to leave class for an academic or counseling-related reason, they will be given an orange pass in advance by the staff member whom they are to visit. This orange pass will need to be presented by the student to the Aviator Bell teacher for that student to obtain permission to leave class.
We hope these guidelines help alleviate family questions/concerns and also ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Please contact Ashwin Corattiyil, Dean of Students, with any follow-up.
Winter Exams - First Semester
This year, on our academic calendar, winter break falls from Friday, December 23, 2022 through Tuesday, January 3, 2023. The end of the 2nd quarter (end of 1st semester) falls on Thursday, January 12, 2023. Therefore, our 1st semester exams will take place from Monday, January 9th through Thursday, January 12th. This will allow for the maximum amount of time for students and staff to prepare and cover the amount of content required to be successful. We will communicate to staff that no work or assignments are to be assigned over winter break, in order for students to prioritize their families, health and well-being, and holiday observances. There is no expectation that students study over winter break. Teachers will hold three days of exam review (January 4-6) in order to prepare students for exam week. If your student will be absent for any portion of that time or exam week, please contact their grade level administrator.
