Message from the Principal
Week of October 17, 2022
Message from the Principal
Dear Virginia Lake Families,
This week we will be reviewing safety during arrival and dismissal. Please encourage your child to walk their bike on school grounds, including the sidewalks on the Virginia Lake property and when crossing the crosswalks. These areas are very congested and we want to keep everyone safe.
We invite families to watch the parade on Monday, October 31st from 2:20-2:50 p.m. The route for our Halloween parade is below. We will begin the parade inside and will take all of the students outside, so families can admire all of the children in their costumes. Halloween parties will be limited to room parents that have signed up to volunteer.
A friendly reminder regarding out Halloween costume guidelines.
Children should not wear bloody, gruesome, or especially scary costumes. Costumes involving fake blood are not allowed.
Actual weapons, look-alike weapons, toy weapons or weapon-like objects are not allowed.
Masks that cover the face and head are not allowed.
Costume make-up is allowed provided it does not cover the student’s entire face. Staff members must be able to identify students.
Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype about someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not allowed.
Virginia Lake will be hosting the 6th grade cross country meet at our school on Wednesday, October 19th from 3:00-3:45 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. We are still looking for volunteers to assist with timing the students who are participating in the event. Please contact Mr. Glaviano, glaviang@ccsd15.net, if you are interested in volunteering.
We had to reschedule our fire drill from Wednesday, October 12th to Thursday, October 20th due to inclement weather last week.. This will be our third fire drill of the school year.
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
