Family Update

Dublin Jerome High School

May 15, 2020

Good Afternoon!

As we head into the final days of this interesting school year there are many announcements and pieces of information to share with you. I will continue to communicate with you throughout the rest of May and over the summer. As you know while the students may begin summer vacation a high school never really stops.

The one thing I am certain is that I miss our students and staff. I am certain to be even more reflective next week but for now just know that I am grateful for all of you.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Senior Update 5.14.2020

In an effort to better inform and communicate with seniors and their families, I have created a Senior Only Newsletter. Please click on the link below for all Class of 2020 Newsletter.

To senior parents: Please make sure you have your senior complete the Senior Exit Survey. This survey is essential for all seniors to complete. It is also the last step in the college application process as they are identifying the college/university to which they need their final transcript sent. Please reach out to your child's school counselor if you have any specific questions about the survey.

Dublin Police have seen an increase in “Senior Tag” related activities. We have received complaints about reckless driving; criminal trespassing and other illegal or dangerous acts all related to teenagers involved in these activities. We are taking steps to address individuals who commit these offenses and endanger themselves or others. These actions cause great concern for the safety of our students and others in the community.

We ask parents to assist us by discouraging these dangerous behaviors with their senior son or daughter if they are involved in this activity. “Senior Tag” is not a school-sponsored or condoned activity. Likewise, law enforcement agencies have not “approved” nor will “look the other way” when students violate the law while engaging in “Senior Tag” activity. Those parties who have contact with law enforcement for this activity should expect legal consequences for any violations of law.

Military Commitment Tribute

IB Visual Art 2020 Exhibition

Represented here is the work of 22 Senior Student Artists and you are viewing the results of either a one or two-year personal exploration of a chosen idea or theme using individually chosen mediums.

Ordinarily, we would be inviting you to a real live exhibition but instead, we put together this website so you can experience and enjoy all of their art without leaving your home.

Reminder: May 19 is the final day of online learning

We know there are many questions regarding these last few days of the 2019-20 school year and beyond. While we do not know the answers to many things right now, we have posted an FAQ with the latest information at this link. We will continue to update this web page as more information becomes available.

Chromebook drop-off for seniors

Seniors may return their Chromebooks at Emerald Campus on Tuesday, May 19 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This drop off point is properly socially distanced as students can pull up in the circle drive directly from the car. Students and families should not park or get out of their cars. Please note: The last day for Chromebook repair for all other students is Tuesday, May 19 at Emerald Campus, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

4th Quarter: Pass/Incomplete

As we head into the final days of school, teachers are continuing to reach out to students about their final expectations and work to be submitted for the school year. Teachers have and will be reaching out to those students that may receive an INCOMPLETE. Along with that, they will provide details on what assignments need to be complete.

If you or your child has questions about whether they will receive a Pass/Incomplete please contact your teacher. We understand that this has been a complex semester, to say the least. Thank you for your support and patience.

Book Drop-Off/Materials Return

We will be hosting a book dropoff on Wednesday, May 20th. Please enter on the Brand Road side for the book drop. (Please click map for details). This dropoff will be contact-free and you will not need to exit your vehicle.

Simply pull through the marked area and our staff will assist you as needed. Please bring all of your textbooks during the time window indicated. Families with siblings at different grade levels can drop all of their books off at the same time. It would be very helpful if you can place a sticky note with your name, grade and class for which the book belongs on the inside cover of the textbook.

Please arrive at the following times:

Freshmen - 9-11am

Sophomores - 11-1pm

Juniors - 1-3pm

Dear Parents,

Please take a moment to complete this brief survey linked here regarding your experiences with remote learning during the global pandemic we are all experiencing at this time.

As you know, due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Dublin City Schools has been closed for in-person learning since the end of the school day Friday, March 13. On Wednesday, March 18, our teachers began delivering online instruction and have continued to do so each school day during the pandemic.

We are seeking your feedback regarding whether the District has met its temporary goals this spring of connecting with students, providing quality learning opportunities and keeping parents informed.

Thank you,

Dublin City Schools
