SLCS District Update
January 14, 2021
Note from the Superintendent
Greetings SLCS Families,
The month of January is School Board Recognition Month. Thus, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the members of the SLCS Board of Education for their leadership and dedicated service to the district. School board members represent the views and priorities of the entire school community. These individuals give selflessly of their time and energy to provide for the best educational opportunities for our students.
Please join me in expressing much gratitude and appreciation to the SLCS Board of Education.
Stay Well! Stay Safe! Stay SLCS Strong!

NWEA MAP Growth:
NWEA MAP Growth scores from our fall 2020 administration are now available in Skyward for secondary students. Please see this informational letter linked here about what your child’s scores mean, as well as instructions for how to access them in Skyward.
College Access Resources for High School Families:
Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) is working to improve the futures of Michigan’s students and communities by making college accessible to all. MCAN has created a survey for students so they can opt in to be contacted and recruited by colleges and universities. The survey takes less than five minutes to complete and collects basic information such as name, contact information, estimated GPA, and areas of academic/scholarship interest.

Over the past week information about the COVID-19 vaccine has been released from the health department. If you are interested in learning more about the COVID-19 vaccine, there are many resources available from the State of Michigan and from the Oakland County Health Department. The Oakland County Health Department website has an option for reserving a vaccine appointment called “Save My Spot”. The “Save My Spot” tool will contact you by phone, text or email when you are eligible to set an appointment and vaccine doses are available.
