REMINDER - COVID Procedure
Effective FEBRUARY 27, 2023, employees must submit documentation from a licensed medical provider or testing facility attesting that the employee has tested positive for COVID-19 in order to qualify New York's COVID-19 sick leave. The District will no longer accept at home positive test results to be eligible for paid COVID sick days.
In no event shall an employee qualify for sick leave under New York's COVID-19 sick leave law for more than three (3) orders of quarantine or isolation. The second and third orders must be based on a positive COVID-19 test.
COVID Procedure
- If you are experiencing fever or feeling feverish/having chills, diarrhea or vomiting - STAY HOME - do not come to work. If you're experiencing other symptoms of illness you may come to work
- Get COVID tested by a healthcare facility or provider
- If positive - Contact/email your immediate supervisor, myself and Adam Sherrard - if you have symptoms, please include the date symptoms started
- Enter "sick" as your absence from work into AESOP or timesheet.
- In order to be eligible for the NYS COVID-19 paid sick leave, you must provide documentation from a licensed medical provider or testing facility attesting that the employee has tested positive for COVID-19 in order to qualify New York's COVID-19 sick leave. At home tests are no longer accepted.
- Once I am in receipt of your proof of positive results and if you're eligible, I will change your sick days to covid paid days from the onset of symptoms. (Please note: According to NYS "In no event shall an employee qualify for sick leave under New York's COVID-19 sick leave law for more than three orders of quarantine or isolation. " Two of the three occurrences must be based on a positive test result for the employee themselves)
- You will receive an email from me regarding your isolation period and when you are cleared to return to work
- You do not need to retest or test negative to return to work

MENTAL HEALTH CORNER
SEPTEMBER is NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARENESS MONTH
Actions that can promote healing, help and give hope.
ASK - Research shows people who are having thoughts of suicide feel relief when someone asks after them in a caring way. Finding suggest acknowledging and talking about suicide may reduce rather than increase suicidal ideation.
BE THERE - Individuals are more likely to feel less depressed, less suicidal, less overwhelmed, and more helpful by after speaking to someone who listens without judgement.
KEEP THEM SAFE - A number of studies have indicated that when lethal means are made less available or less deadly, suicide rates by that method decline, and frequently suicide rates overall decline.
FOLLOW UP - Studies have also shown that brief, low cost intervention and supportive, ongoing contact may be an important part of suicide prevention, especially for individuals after they have been discharged from hospitals or care services.
HELP THEM STAY CONNECTED - Studies indicate that helping someone at risk create a network of resources and individuals for support and safety can help them take positive action and reduce feelings of hopelessness.

Learn more about our Policies
The Board of Education is dedicated to educating students to develop desired moral, ethical, and cultural values, to stimulate and expand a continual learning process, and to cultivate an understanding and appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of American citizens, which will enable them to function effectively as independent individuals in a democratic society.
The educational program will aim to provide each child with the fundamental academic skills and basic knowledge required for his/her maximum educational development, the opportunity for each child to develop his/her interests and abilities to the fullest extent according to his/her individual potential, and special services to promote the physical, mental and emotional development of each child. It is the district's goal to foster in students good work habits, integrity, dignity, self-discipline, good sportsmanship, self-confidence and a sense of purpose. Extracurricular activities will be offered when possible to enhance the academic program.
The Board encourages parents and teachers to offer their expertise in helping to develop a school environment that is academically challenging, psychologically satisfying and socially fulfilling for students at all levels. The Board also supports the sharing of programs and activities with adjoining school districts in order to provide a broad educational and social experience for the students of the district. The objectives of an educational program are best realized when mutual understanding, cooperation, and effective communications exist among the home, community and school.
