Schoolwide Procedures
Everyone will need to review these procedures with their students immediately following announcements on the first day of school.
The version I am sending you has the student and staff expectations because I think it's ok for the students to see that we have expectations for how we operate, too. If you don't agree, just zoom in on that student expectation side when you bring them up to review during announcements.
These are being updated today and will be emailed to you tomorrow morning before announcements.
every student will need to pick up a new schedule on the first day of school. They must show you this gold schedule to gain access to your class the first 2 days of school! Do not follow blue schedules!
Do you and your students have A or B lunch?
The only exception to this will be Mrs. Holt's CSI class as well as Panter and Standiford's classes. They will have the 2nd (B) lunch with all of the second floor classes.
On "B" Days, 7th period classes on the first floor will have 1st (A) Lunch.
The only exception to this will be Coach JimEd Baugh's class as well as Panter, Standiford, and Janson's classes. They will have the 2nd (B) lunchwith all of the second floor classes.
iPad Distribution and Canvas
Many students received their iPads during Viking Day, which is awesome. This should make distributing them to the remaining students go by that much faster. In fact, because of this, we are going to distribute them during advisory instead of during English classes (English teachers rejoice!)
We will send out the iPad forms for those who have not received their iPads through Advisory on Day 1. Teachers should pass these out to the students who have not yet received their iPads. We will start handing out iPads on Thursday. Students in your advisory WHO HAVE A SIGNED IPAD AGREEMENT FORM should use that as their pass to go to the MAC to view the iPad responsible use video and receive their iPads.
The money for their optional coverage is due by October 1, but we need their form signed and returned before they can receive their iPads.
We will also send home first day of school forms through advisory. Advisory teachers should collect these forms and return them to the front office.
Canvas should be up and running and ready to use on the first day of school. EVERYONE SHOULD PLAN TO USE CANVAS AT FULL CAPACITY BY MONDAY, AUGUST 19.

First Day of School Stuff.
Remember, it is an A day.
All students report to 1st period at 8:05.
We will have schedules printed out for all the students to pick up again in the cafeteria when they first get to school. 9th and 10th graders will stay in the cafeteria and 11th and 12th graders will go to the MAC to wait for 8:05. Attendance on the first day of school:
1. Check everyone’s GOLD schedule as they enter class. If they aren’t supposed to be in your room, send them to the correct class.
2. Take roll in blue or black ink using the Class Roster provided.
3. If a student is in class, but not on the list, add the student’s name at the bottom of the list.
4. If a student is on the list, but not in class, mark NS (No Show) in front of the student’s name. You may draw one thin line through the student’s name in addition to the NS.
5. No students will be marked absent on the first day of school because you have to be enrolled to be absent. That’s why they are a “no show”.
6. Sign and date the list in ink.
7. Teachers who are responsible for the attendance accounting period must:
· Count the number of students in your class.
· Verify that the number shown on the Class List or Attendance Roster matches your head count (after taking into consideration new students and no-shows).
· Not let any student leave your room until the official count is complete.
· Write the number of students in your class on the bottom of the list.
- Make sure any marks made in error have been corrected and the list is accurate before the Class Roster is collected. Mark through any error and initial the change, making it an official document.)
Subsequent days:
Those districts that have campuses recording attendance in an electronic grade book must:
1. Post attendance in a timely manner...at the ADA time of day or in each class period.
2. Notify the office of students in your classroom, but not listed in your electronic grade book. Verify any/all schedule change paperwork/documentation. To avoid erroneous absences, students must be withdrawn from a course prior to entering another class.
3. There will be a bell each period to remind you to take attendance. Abigayle will be checking to see if you post your attendance and will contact you if you don’t. You must post your correct attendance every period of every day. Official attendance taking for funding is at 10:30 am every day.
