Important Information:

  • The Book Fair is HERE! Please make plans to attend. More information is for you below and I believe you may have received some information via email from the school. Only Cash and Credit Card will be accepted.
  • Please let me know via email if you are planning on being a chaperone for the Pumpkin Patch. All are invited! You will not be allowed to ride the bus with us for liability purposes; however, you are welcome to just meet us there. You will pay your admission at the gate (which is $5.00 I believe) and you will be responsible for your lunch. There is a concession stand available for lunch purchases. I do ask that if you do come, please refrain from buying goodies for your little one from the concession stand. As you can imagine, this can cause an issue for our other little friends. Thanks so much for your support.
  • BE REMINDED: PRS is cracking down on dress code. Please make sure that your learner is dressed appropriately each day. They are expected to wear solid bottoms and solid tops (Patriots T-shirts are acceptable) every day. They have begun checking students at breakfast and asking them to call their parents. So please take care of this so our learning isn't interrupted worrying about what we are wearing. Thanks!
  • Please make sure that you check and send back your learner's folder each day! This is a main avenue for communication and the primary way that holds your learner accountable for communication. It will only work well, if we all do our part to make sure that we are holding them accountable. Thanks for your help with this!
  • If you have not already, please send earbuds or headphones for your learner to use while at school.

Please join PTSA if you have not already! The Community with the most participation wins a popsicle party!!!!! We like to WIN!

The Scholastic Book Fair is at PRS This Week! Make Plans to Bring Your Family

The Fair is located in Collaborative Learning Center and is open to all. Our Learners will have a designated time that they can visit the Fair each day if you want to send money for purchasing. However, it might be better if you can come and enjoy the fair with them. Parents are welcome to come with students any time during school hours.

I Would Like to Welcome to our Family, Mrs. Anderson!

Mrs. Anderson is our new paraprofessional that will be working with me serving our learners. I am thrilled to have the extra hands and her gentle spirit is simply amazing. She began working with us last Thursday and she will share her time with us and with Ms. Brasswell's family. She already loves our little ones and I know that when you meet her you will be more than pleased. She will be working with me to assist our learners during the learning process. She will assist with enrichment opportunities for our learners, reading groups, journal conferencing, mentoring, etc. She is very excited and is all in, willing to assist in whatever capacity. We are pleased to have her join our family.

Let's Participate in Socktober!

Our Second Grade Community has created a project to help the homeless in our area and is asking the entire school to participate. They are asking Community One to donate Hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, lotions, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. Please consider helping with this cause! It is important to teach our learners about giving back and this is a great opportunity to do so!

You are Invited to a Home Living House Warming Party

SHHHH! Please don't let your learner know that I have spilled the beans. Learner-Created Invitations Coming SOON!

As you know we have been creating and developing our Home Living Center and we will be putting the finishing touches on it this week. We are also in the midst of planning a House Warming Party for our "New House" and we would love it if you could join us. We will be making invitations this week, which is why I don't want you to let them know that you already know. However, I wanted to give you as much notice as possible.

We will have cupcakes, grapes, and punch. They planned the menu! Hahaha! and it is scheduled for Thursday, October 15th at 2:00 p.m. Please come if you can. We would love to have you come and see our creation that we have worked very hard on.

Michael's Parents Came to Share with us for Fire Safety

Learning doesn't get much more authentic than this. Earlier this year, one of our little friends, Michael and his family experienced what none of us want to ever have to endure. Their house caught on fire. Therefore, I asked Mr. and Mrs. Kelley to please come and share with our learners about the events of that night and explain just how important having a family plan really is. The learner's listened intently and asked questions about the event. The experience was absolutely phenomenal. It was certainly not one you will ever find in curriculum some where. We were truly blessed by their story, their courage, and their willingness to teach us about the importance of fire safety.

The Week Ahead

Theme Time: Our Plans for last week have been shifted a little. We decided to throw a party! So this week, our learners will be putting the final touches on our Home Living Center and we hope to see you all for our House Warming Party this Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

Center Time: This is an exciting week! Our items from our Donors Choose Project arrived so we will be enhancing our Science Exploration Center! The Learners are thrilled and excited about these new items and can't wait to get their hands on them.

Shared Reading, Shared Journal, and Poetry Journal: This week we will continue to work on identifying nouns, distinguishing between long and short vowel sounds, vowel sound letter patterns, and identifying syllables in words. We will also begin on the comprehension skill of making predictions.

Math: This week we will continue to work with the concepts of addition and subtraction. We will also begin to incorporate math games that will enhance our learning specific standards during center time.
