- Jan. 16-17: Visit the B&O Railroad Museum
Starting Sunday, visit the Pratt Street Museum—which was recently named as an Underground Railroad site—to honor the life of the trailblazing civil rights leader. Celebrate the fallen icon’s legacy through Monday with a captivating tour, train rides, activities for little ones, and choir performances delivered by the Union Baptist Church. From 2-4 p.m. on January 16, Union Baptist’s Reverend Mark-Anthony Montgomery will give a presentation inspired by one of Dr. King’s most famous speeches. Find a full list of this weekend’s events here.
- Jan. 17: Tune Into the Reginald F. Lewis Museum’s Virtual MLK Day
As you spend the day reflecting, log on to the Reginald F. Lewis Museum’s Facebook or Youtube pages to take in a virtual lineup of programming inspired by Dr. King. Listen to spoken word pieces by Dewmore Baltimore poets; a discussion between the museum’s own Dr. Izetta Autumn Mobley and civil rights historian Taylor Branch; and a musical performance by jazz saxophonist Benny Russell, trumpeter Brandon Woody, pianist Justin Taylor, drummer Jay Moody, and bass player Blake Meister. If you’re looking for family-friendly experiences, don’t miss an MLK Children’s Theatre read-aloud and singalong.

BCPS families are eligible to receive one free test kit for every child that is enrolled in a Baltimore County Public School. Only students that are actively attending Mays Chapel will be eligible to receive a test kit at this location. We are unable to distribute kits for additional siblings. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Test kits will be available in the office Monday - Friday, 9:30-4:00.
In School Testing
In accordance with BCPS COVID testing protocol, in school testing is available for those that develop COVID-like symptoms during the school day. This means individuals are eligible for in-school COVID testing if COVID-like symptoms develop during school hours. This BCPS protocol applies to both staff and students. Individuals that develop symptoms outside of school hours are asked to stay home and access outside clinics and care providers for testing. For the health and safety of our students and staff, please do not come to school to access COVID testing if you have symptoms. Schools are not equipped to function as testing centers. Parent consent is required before student testing may occur. Thanks for your consideration. contact: Ms. Katie Potter-Lanier klanier@bcps.org
BCPS Metrics for Partial or Full-School Closures
Consistent with the Maryland Department of Health definition, five percent or more of unrelated students/teachers/staff (minimum of 10 of these individuals) testing positive for COVID-19 in a 14-day period is a consideration. However, please note that the 5 percent threshold does not automatically result in school closure. If a decision is made for a temporary transition to virtual learning, parents/guardians at the school will be notified

Test results will be shared with parents and guardians when they become available. See the attached resources for more information about these tests.
