Latest Updates from the Nest
Col. John O. Ensor Middle School 11.13.20
Dear Ensor Families,
I send this update in the hopes that all my Eagles are happy and doing well!
There is much to share in this newsletter, beginning with our Ensor Eagle Homework Hub!
We understand that remote learning has it's challenges and everyone is working together to ensure our Eagles stay on top of their learning, making progress in preparation for their continued educational journey. Our goal is to offer support after school where students can ask questions regarding homework and missing class assignments.
This will be the place where students can go to get the additional help from teachers. The Homework Hub is set as a homework help group for all students who are struggling to complete their classwork or homework.
The Homework Hub will take place in TEAMS. Each content area will meet in its own Homework Hub. Teachers will wait for students to pop in for help.
The Homework Hub will be available from 4:30-6:30, Monday-Thursday beginning Nov. 16th. We have started a little later in the afternoon in the hopes that our Eagles can take a break from their regular school day, get a snack, play outside for a bit, and then come to ask the questions needed to help them through those academic struggles. We also know that many of our parents are working and would like to be present to listen to the instruction so that they can continue to monitor the learning and completion of assignments, a partnership that we feel is extremely valuable during this time.
We also extend an invitation to all our 8th graders to register for the Virtual Advanced Academy Nights happening December 1st and 2nd. Information from all of our SISD high schools will be shared! Please make it a priority to register so that our 8th graders can better prepare for the opportunities waiting for them after middle school! It's a very important time for our 8th graders and the information will be paramount as they prepare to move on to high school.
And just a few additional reminders. As we continue with Remote Learning, it is very important that we continue to work together to make sure our Eagle are actively participating in their classes. Students should be logged in by 8:15 AM and maintain cameras on throughout the day, unless teachers direct students otherwise. If for some reason your child is not able to log in, please contact the school by phone at 937-6001, via email to administration, counselors, or teachers. We will do our best to help ensure your child has access to all their classes when they run into these situations.
Socorro ISD continues to follow the Region 19 School System COVID-19 Campus Attendance Plan to guide its safe transition back to in-person learning. Approved by the Texas Education Agency, the data-driven plan will provide the district the flexibility to follow the data and safely reopen schools when the local community health improves.
As with all COVID-19 plans, it is important to note that details may be subject to change pending the state of our local community health and new guidance issued by national, state, and local authorities as we progress through the school year.
Remember, practice social distancing, wear a mask, and wash your hands regularly so we can all do our part in keeping Team SISD safe!!
Thanksgiving Break is also upon us! And for many, this is a time where we can rest and reflect on the many blessings in our lives, time best shared with family and friends. Celebrations will be a little different this year, but nonetheless, there will be many thanks for being together-apart.
So with that, there will be no school from November 23rd-27th. Classes will resume on November 30th. Have a safe holiday!
STAY HEALTHY AND SAFE!
