All Social Studies Fall Midterms will be on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022

  • 6th: This week students applied their knowledge of Human geography and culture to their Cartography project by creating a poster to incorporate the Five Themes of Geography and culture to their project. It was exciting to see them engaged and having fun. Next Tuesday December 13th students will take their midterm final exam. The midterm final will count as a fourth Summative grade. There is a review assignment in Schoology that students can use to prepare. Students will spend time reviewing in class as well

Fall Semester Exams & Schedule

Please view the Semester Exam Schedule so that you are aware of which tests are given each day. Due to limited technology, our students will take one core content each day and will take their elective semester exams on Thursday and Friday. Each teacher will give an exam and students will not be allowed to take the exams early. If a student misses an exam, they will receive a 0 in the gradebook and will have to retake the exam the week we return from the holiday break in tutorials after school. Please help us by making sure your student attends school each day.

State Assessment & Testing (STAAR)

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) test is being redesigned to make the test more tightly aligned to the classroom experience.

The STAAR redesign is a result of House Bill (HB) 3906 passed by the 86th Texas Legislature in 2019. The Texas Education Agency (TEA), working with a wide range of education stakeholders, including the Assessment Education Advisory Committee, has been exploring the most instructionally supportive approach to implementing these changes. The redesign will be implemented in the state summative assessments administered in the 2022–2023 school year.

The STAAR redesign includes several components:

For more information about how the STAAR redesign improves alignment to the classroom experience, hear what teachers are saying, reference the STAAR Redesign February 2022 Presentation (PDF, posted 3/7/22), or see below for more information about each component. For answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ), please reference the STAAR Redesign FAQ (PDF, updated 8/30/22). You may access the STAAR online testing platform for practice here.
