Ionic Radius
made by: Karri Wechselberger
Ionic radii are difficult to measure with certainty, and the nature of the ion may cause different variations in the radius. There are several different ways to measure the ionic radius in use today.
Definition of an Ionic Radius
It is the radius of an atoms Ion
Trends in Ionic Radii
- As you add extra layers of electrons the ions get bigger and bigger causing the radius to be larger.
- As you go across the series of positive and negative ions the radii falls.
