Fall Book Fair - November 14th - November 18th
The fall book fair will occur during conference week, Monday 11/14/16 thru Friday 11/18/16. Please see the attached for details.
In preparation for the book fair, we will be having a book raffle in the library starting on 10/31/16. There are 8 sets of books for students to select from. To enter the raffle, please fill out the raffle ticket and donate loose change (the change baggie and raffle ticket were sent home in your student’s Monday envelop). Donations will be used to purchase new “pet” books for the library. Winners will be selected on 11/18/16.
We are seeking volunteers to help with the book fair, specifically from 1:00 to 3:00 on Thursday and Friday afternoons. If you are interested please email Kimberly Meisel atmeiselki@northvilleschools.org.

Don’t forget to order your Spirit Wear!
Check out Silver Springs new spirit wear selections online. All orders are due by November 18th. Mondays are spirit wear days at school so don’t miss out on your chance to buy some new school gear for your child or even you!
It’s time again for PTA Reflections…
Encourage your child to unleash their inner artist through the PTA’s Reflections Art Program! This year’s theme, “What is Your Story?” encourages students to think about who they are and what they want others to know about them.
Have your child get creative with an original work of art. Students may enter as many entries as they’d like, in one or more of the following categories:
· Dance Choreography
· Film Production
· Literature
· Music Composition
· Photography
· Visual Arts
Reflections deadline extended to Friday, November 11th.
All entries must be turned into the office with the required documents filled out completely and all rules followed correctly. Required documents are the checklist, student entry form, and consent form. Please follow ALL instructions on the checklist to make sure that the entry is acceptable or it will not be judged. No writing name on the front or glitter in visual arts. All artwork needs a title and artist statement. Most importantly, the theme must be reflected in the original work of art. Each category has specific rules that need to be followed like “presentation” or “format”. Read all rules carefully and follow specific directions before submitting artwork!

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit 1 – Be Proactive – “I’m in Charge of Me”
What this means: Take charge of your own life. Make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
“I am responsible for me.”
“I do the right thing before I am asked.”
“I do the right thing even when no one is looking.”
“I do not blame others for my actions.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
2. When you get mad and want to say something, stop, think, and ask yourself-
Why am I getting so angry? Make a good choice in a good way.
Great Books for Habit #1- Be Proactive
- The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds
- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
- Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
- The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper
- Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman
- Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun by Maria Dismondy
