Dear Families,
We are coming upon Election Day on Tuesday, November 8. Please know that this is a very busy day in the Noyes parking lot since we share it with Town Hall, a precinct location. In order to make this day run as smoothly and safely as possible for everyone, here’s how you can help:
If you are visiting Noyes at any time on Tuesday, please park at the United Methodist Church across the street and walk to Noyes. The town always asks Noyes staff to park there on voting days to make sure there are plenty of parking spots for voters. We ask that all Noyes visitors do the same.
We strongly encourage all bus pass holders to take the bus on Tuesday at dismissal if at all possible. The fewer cars picking up, the better.
The entrance at Town Hall will be open during arrival and departure for Noyes and voter cars, so you will follow the normal procedure for Car Pick Up and Car Drop Off. HOWEVER, this will be an active thoroughfare for voters. A path will be blocked off with cones so pedestrians can make their way to the voting precinct. PLEASE be extremely careful entering between the Town Hall and the Grange, as well as just driving through our parking lot when so many people may be there for voting.
COLD WEATHER IS COMING!
I’ll grant you, it’s not coming this weekend, but it is coming. This is New England. In preparation for the inevitable, please know the following about recess at school in the winter.
We go outside every day if at all possible. Students need fresh air and to run around. Of course, we don’t want it to be dangerous. If the “feels like” temperature is below 20 degrees OR if the conditions are too treacherous (the playground is a sheet of ice, for example) OR if it’s actively raining/snowing, we have indoor recess. If it’s just mist or light snow, we go outside.
However, for students to enjoy being outside when it’s cold, they need the right gear – hats, gloves/mittens, snow pants, snow boots, and warm coats. If there is a financial hardship securing these items, please reach out to me.
If the playground is full of snow, which is quite common in the winter, students have to have boots and snow pants on to play there. Otherwise, they play on the blacktop. This is because students have a hard time learning if their feet and bodies are wet from being in the snow without the right gear.
We encourage students to play in the snow and build snow structures, but there is no throwing of snow because we don’t want anyone to get hurt. Oftentimes, snow freezes and it can be icy and cause injuries if it hits someone in the face. We like to avoid that potential altogether with the “no throwing snow” rule.
And if all that sounds delightful, please consider volunteering for lunch/recess duty. (more info below)
Thank you for taking the time this month to meet with your children’s teachers. We are eager to partner with you to make sure all students are making good progress and connecting well with their peers and teachers at Noyes. Thank you for your support.
Warmly,
Annette Doyle

Dear Families,
The Department of Public Health in conjunction with the MA Chapter of the Academy of Pediatrics has shared the attached letter with suggestions for respiratory illness prevention for infants and children this fall and winter. We are seeing increased numbers of students ill with colds, coughs, RSV, strep throat and gastrointestinal illness already this fall. Last month there were 13 cases of Covid-19 as well. Please remember to keep your child/ren home if they are ill so we can reduce the spread of these viruses within our classrooms.
thank you,
Carol Bradford
