New Staff Edition 2020-2021
Welcome to Enon!
In June of 2020, we said good-bye to Carol Sabet (Reading Specialist), Joanne Evans (Registrar) and Mary Ford (Instructional Assistant) who all retired from CCPS. Kelly Jones (Third Grade) took a new position as an Assistant Principal at North Elementary in Prince George County. Melissa Bateman moved to Clover Hill ES to be closer to home and Celine Leary relocated back to Northern Virginia. Our ECSE program with teacher Debbie Lewis and assistant Sherry Woodlief is now located at Scott Elementary. We wish all of our former staff members the very best and truly appreciate their work with our students.
Our newest (and two returning) staff members are listed below Please join us in welcoming our newest Enon staff members!
Fourth Grade- Rachel Allegra
Hi Friends!
My name is Rachel Allegra. This is my 4th year teaching 4th grade! I was previously teaching in Loudoun County, where I was born and raised, and recently moved to the Richmond area.
I graduated from college with my masters in Elementary Education: PreK-6 from Old Dominion University. Go Monarchs!
I am excited to be a part of the Enon community, and I can't wait to get to know each and every one of you this year!
STEAM Itinerant- Ashlee Barnhill
Fourth Grade- Christi Brubaker
Library Itinerant- Nancy Renwick
Hi everyone! I am so happy to be part of the Enon family! I am originally from Virginia Beach, but I have been living in Midlothian for the past sixteen years with my husband, tenth grade son, three college students (Go Hokies! Go Lancers! Go Rams!), my hound dogs Bilbo and Big Snoopy, and a feisty bearded dragon named Lenny.
I am a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in English, UVA, where I spent several more years pursuing a Masters and most of a Ph.D. in English, and most recently Longwood, where I completed a Masters of Education in School Librarianship. Lifelong learning is the best!
Growing up, one of my favorite pastimes was operating a library with my book collection, creating due date slips and checking out books to my stuffed animals and neighborhood friends. I have always loved sharing the joys of reading, and there is nothing like helping students find a just-right book that becomes a favorite. As a school librarian, I strive to build a warm, inviting, inclusive environment for learners where they are free to think, create, share, and grow.
In my free time, I enjoy all things outdoors--hiking, backpacking, camping, and kayaking, and I always have a puzzle, a podcast, and a book in progress.
Art Itinerant Teacher- Susan Eberhardt
Music Itinerant Teacher- Cathern Hazelwood
Cathern Hazelwood graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Music Education with latin honors in May 2020. She has held leadership roles within VCU Music such as being the co-conducting assistant of the VCU Commonwealth Singers, the University’s elite auditioned chorus. As a soprano in the ensemble, she has performed with the Richmond Symphony and Richmond Ballet and participated in world premiere works by Caroline Shaw, Antonio Garcia, and Deen Entsminger. Her private studies include vocal lessons and coaching with Margaret Woods, James Smith-Parham and Melanie Kohn Day, conducting lessons with Erin Freeman, and piano lessons with Daniel Stipe. She has also spent two summers with Berkshire Choral International as a scholar and a conducting apprentice where she was able to work with renowned conductors such as Betsy Burleigh, Joe Miller, and Tom Hall. She is a soprano choral scholar at All Saints’ Episcopal Church and she teaches private music lessons at Bach to Rock school of music. If she’s not practicing music, you’ll probably find her hunkered down with a good book or strolling through the outdoors.
