Between 1928-1933

  • The bank closures dramatically increased, going from 496 bank closures to 4010 closures

  • The drastic increase in bank closure started with the Stock Market Crash in 1929

  • Panic Dates: November/December 1930, April-August 1931, September-October 1931, June-July 1932



After 1933

  • Emergency Bank Act of 1933

  • 1933 Franklin D. Roosevelt called for 3 day bank holiday, this saved hundreds of banks

  • 1934 - Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) established
