Principal's message - week 19
Greetings North Plains Families!
This cold weather has brought dry skin and chapped lips to so many kids! We do have petroleum jelly in the health room that we can give to kids when they come up, but it would be GREAT for you to give them some lip balm of some sort to use throughout the day. (Notice I did that without promoting brand names? :-))
Earlier this year I wrote about a great book for families called "Table Talk Math" and am planning to have a family math night using things from the book on Tuesday, Jan. 23. We will have 2 break outs, one for families with students in grades K-2, and one for families with students in 3-6 The book is really great and gives ideas for parents to talk about math with their kids in everyday conversations. If you are interested in the book, the link to find it is https://www.amazon.com/Table-Talk-Math-Practical-Conversations/dp/1946444022/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496765989&sr=8-1&keywords=table+talk+math
The Holiday Gift Shop is happening next week! You can see the schedule and sign up to volunteer using the following link. Thank you to Karolyn Duyck for being the point person for this very important tradition!

Lost and found has been updated again so please be sure to look at the link below for items that might belong to you. After the break items that have been here for several months will be bagged and donated, so look carefully!
Finally, I will be out of the building from Wed. afternoon through Friday as I am taking some personal time to be with family. Sarah Keller, a district Teacher on Special Assignment, will be covering in my absence along with school counselor Joni Clayton. There won't be a newsletter next week but I'll do an update during break at some point. I will be checking email periodically through the break so feel free to reach out to me if needed.
Have an amazing holiday and I look forward to seeing you in January!
Becky
