McCarthy Families,
We completed our first full week of school! And what a fun week it was (see photos). This week we started our PBIS (positive behavioral interventions and supports) program. When staff see expected school behavior, we hand MeerKash (a small ticket with our meerkat mascot) out to students. Students turn them into classroom teachers for class rewards. At the end of the month we collect them all for school wide recognition and celebration.
We will also have our first community meeting on Friday, September 30th. Staff and students are invited to participate in color day by wearing your favorite color or colors. Each grade level will come to the cafeteria for this meeting and review our character trait of the month-Responsibility and preview next month's -Respect.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time to share any questions or concerns.

Marcella Sancho, Vice Principal (Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade)

Dismissal Process- PLEASE READ
If you have not already, please send a note, email into your child's classroom teacher to confirm how your child goes home each day, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri.
If you need to CHANGE that typical dismissal plan, you MUST notify your child's classroom teacher by the start of the school day-send in a note or email before 8:00.
If there is day of change to your child's typical routine, you MUST CALL THE MAIN OFFICE at 508-626-9161 BEFORE 2:00 PM. Your child will be dismissed in the manner we have on file if we do not hear from you before 2:00pm.
Families who pick up their child from the WALKER door or who have approved for their child to WALK ALONE from the walker door, please scroll below to read further changes to the WALKER DOOR dismissal process.
Thank you for your assistance as we continue to refine our dismissal process to ensure all students get where they need to be at the end of the day.
WALKERS & WALKER DOOR CHANGES
Student Walkers who walk alone: Families who have approved for their child to walk home alone, please on the lookout for an email this week requesting verification of that approval. We recognize that you may have verbally confirmed this previously but we are looking to get a quick and clear confirmation via email. Thank you!
In addition, starting this week, the week of September 18th, we will be making a change to the walker procedure. Because we have classrooms utilizing the back playground up until the end of the day, we can no longer have adults on the sides of the building (outside of the gymnasium) as well as cutting through the back blacktop and playground from the Warren Road path. We are asking that all adults picking up students from the walker door line up in 2 lines at the cones that will be placed at the corner of the building. Once the school day ends and walker door staff arrive, they will remove cones to allow the lines to come forward to the walker door. This change is essential to ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue to make small shifts to better serve the McCarthy Community!

A Message from the PTO
Thank you to everyone who attended our first PTO meeting.
The PTO cannot be effective without volunteers and participation from the great families of McCarthy! We are always looking for people willing to volunteer, join events, and share ideas to help enhance our school community. We will be in need of volunteers for some upcoming events (see below) and are looking for parents who might be able to help with the translation of information, meetings, flyers, etc.
