Swift - Slaybaugh Complex

Principal's Message
Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Families,
Thank you for all your support and enthusiasm during the first month of school. Our teachers, counselors, specialists, support staff, custodians, maintenance, cafeteria staff, administration and Parents’ Club have worked very hard to establish a welcoming and engaging community of learning. Your role as parent has also been critical to help all of our students make a successful adjustment back to school.
This month we are continuing to set routines while we are assessing students for growth measures in reading and math. This will help us to determine individual and small group needs for instructional differentiation, intervention and enrichment.
We have lots of activities planned for this month – Violence Prevention Week, Red Ribbon Week, and the week of the 11th – 15th is BE KIND week. Picture Day for the Swift building will be on Thursday, October 14th and the Primary and Elementary buildings will have theirs on Wednesday, October 13th. Kindergarten and First Grade students- on Wednesday, October the 13th please remember to wear your favorite PJ’s or sweat suit! Preschool, 2nd and 3rd Grade students and 2-3- on Thursday, October 14th wear your favorite PJ's or sweat suit! Last but not least, Halloween celebrations and parades (students only) will be on Friday, October 29th.
Regarding the Halloween Celebration and Parade, we will still be following Covid protocols. Students can wear a costume, but must continue to wear an approved mask, costume masks are not permitted. We also request that no toy weapons, even if they are part of the costume, are brought to school.
Please do not send in any food or take-home bags for the students. No outside food items are permitted in school, even if they are individually wrapped. However, if you wish to send something in for your child’s classmates, please coordinate with the classroom teacher to send in non-Halloween items, such as pencils, stickers, or Halloween toys, etc. This protocol will be in effect for any classroom celebration until further notice.
We are trying to return to normalcy with celebrations, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding while we try to keep our staff and students safe.
Just a reminder, our water filling stations are open now. If your child has a refillable water bottle feel free to send them in with it so they can refill it when needed. Also, there will be no school on Monday, October 11th due to Columbus Day.
As always, please reach out if you have any concerns or questions.
