Monday Morning Message
Week of September 21, 2018
- Attached below are two documents shared with us via ESC. They provide useful information for times, present and future, when we might find grieving students in need of our support.
- Many students and staff members throughout the district will be wearing teal on Monday as a show of support. Feel free to join. We will have a teal ribbon available for you as well if you are interested.
- We will host a brief, optional stand up meeting in the staff lunchroom tomorrow at 7:35 for anyone who would like process or debrief with colleagues before the day begins. Please share with members of your team who may not have the opportunity to read this tonight.
Notes for the Week and Beyond
Many of you have expressed high levels of stress lately either through our Wellness survey or through dialogue with colleagues. The terms "our plates are full" or "we feel like we have to many plates spinning at once" sum up the feelings that many are experiencing. You are certainly in the midst of a very busy season with beginning of the year assessments, MTSS/RtI plans, student-led conferences, E-Day preparations, the end of the first quarter, life, and actually teaching on top of it all! Although we all understand the "why" and find the value in what we are doing, that doesn't give us any more time in which to actually accomplish it. Your time and efforts this year are very much noticed and appreciated. Below are some opportunities for us to enjoy the gift of time:
- No PLCs this coming Friday. Work on E-Day Prep, Conferences, etc. Students will still attend Related Arts.
- No Staff Meeting on Tuesday, October 2. Use that time to finalize E-Day Prep, Conferences or just plain catch your breath.
- We will not hold PLCs on Friday, October 5 as it will be out install date for the Outdoor Learning Experience. We are still working on what that schedule will look like and will share it out once finalized.
- No PLCs on Friday, October 12 before fall break. Students will still attend Related Arts.
MTSS/RtI Plans: We did receive some guidance that these plans do not have to be signed. However, after giving it a little more thought I would like for us all to make every effort get them signed. If you are unable to do so with a family, please let me know.
Officer Holtz is completing some additional training and will return on Oct. 1. Officer Potts will be with us until Wednesday this week. After that, ZPD will have officers rotating through the building until Officer Holtz returns.
