First Nine Weeks
Standard 1: School Library Media Coordinators demonstrate leadership
- Member of SIT and MTAC
- Met with new teachers/staff to create webpages and make sure they knew login information as needed
- Presented at BEST STEAM and NCSLMA Conference
- Joined NCSLMA as the Webinar Development Chair
- Attended the first North Carolina Digital Leadership Coaching Network Training in order to become a better Digital Coach
- Maintain school social media and website presence
Standard 2: School Library Media Coordinators build a learning environment that meets the instructional needs of a diverse population of students.
- Continually work on collection development plan to create a library collection that promotes the diversity of our students
- When doing library orientation (and other instruction), differentiate as needed
- When I do a Book Talk I choose a large variety of books to allow different readers to see themselves and books they may read in the collection
- Have a puzzle and games out for students to use
Standard 3: School Library Media Coordinators implement a comprehensive 21st Century library media program.
- Handed out 1:1 devices to students; gave presentation on devices and their use to 6th grade - sent slideshow to 7th and 8th grade
- Teach technology skills (i.e. working with SD cards and flash drives, editing video) to News Crew
- Created citation guides for research to promote digital citizenship
Standard 4: School Library Media Coordinators demonstrate knowledge of learners and learning and promote effective instructional practices.
- Coach a Battle of the Books team
- Create (or have Media Assistants create) fun and engaging book displays
- Planned research projects with each grade level; carried out research project with Byrnes
- As students come in for check-out, do book talks and suggest books to encourage reading for pleasure
Standard 5: School Library Media Coordinators reflect on their practice.
- Created this document to make sure I am following my standards and see what I could improve upon
- Created PDP
- Attended BEST STEAM in the summer, and the NCSLMA Conference and NCDLCN in the fall
