Changes to Master School Calendar

Please note these changes:

  • Monday, November 23 - 'A' students come to school
  • Tuesday, November 24 - 'B' students come to school

A message from our PTO:

Our ShopWithScrip program is off to a great start! Thank you to everyone that has already signed up and started ordering gift cards! I am pleased to announce that ShopWithScrip is running a “ThankScriping Day” promotion on Nov 19 and 20th. We will be able to earn up to 20% for our organization with 120+ bonuses on eGift cards and reloaded gift cards. With this announcement in mind, we will be extending the due date for orders to Nov. 20th.


If you have not signed up already here are the quick and easy steps:

If you prefer not to order your gift cards online, please see the form attached to submit your order by sending in with your child to school.

Please participate in our Thankful Leaders Spirit Week!

Off-campus hybrid learners are asked to join their on campus classmates this week during a 8 AM Zoom to have a whole class discussion about being a thankful leader. Please make sure that your child participates! We may have some special surprises on the Zoom meetings!

Hawk Achievement Awards will be held on Wednesday, November 18th via Zoom. Please refer to the information shared by your child's teacher for times.

Thanksgiving Meal

Our Thanksgiving Meal will be served to 'A' students on Tuesday, November 17 and to 'B' students on Thursday, November 19th. While we normally are able to invite families to join us for these special lunches, we are unable to do so this year due to health and safety restrictions. Please know that we are thankful for your family's partnership with Weaverville Elementary and we miss the opportunities for us to share memories together!


Remote only students who preordered a meal with our Cafeteria Manager, Ashley Mendoza, may pick that meal up on Wednesday, November 18th. Please refer to the information that Mrs. Mendoza shared with you about pickup times.

Midterm reports will be shared this week. Please make sure you review this information with your child. Thank you for your support of your child's learning!

This year’s bookfair will be an online bookfair! What a great way to get some gifts for all the kids in your life. Give the gift of reading! Your child can even make a wishlist and share with

friends and family for gift ideas!


Every purchase you make gives our school money to purchase new books for the library too!

Purchases need to be made by November 24th! Books will be shipped to the school for pickup. I will deliver to hybrid students when they come to school. We will arrange pickup

Bus Rider Changes

Buncombe County Schools will begin transitioning from our HSSA program (bus health monitor) to a parent attestation program beginning on November 30. This means parents will need to perform the wellness check before sending their child to the bus stop.


Bus 292 and Bus 220 WILL still have a bus health monitor through the end of December. I am checking with Mr. Chandler for the status of Bus 129, 278, 302, 503. Buses we share with NBMS and NWR will most likely NOT have bus health monitors past November 30th.


Beginning the week of November 16, students will bring home a health attestation form that parents must review and follow the provided guidance. Essentially, each morning beginning on Monday, November 30, parents will need to take their child’s temperature and answer “no” to the provided health questions in order to allow their child to ride the bus.


Please know that bus riders, just like car riders, will now receive their wellness check and temperature screening when they arrive at school.


The question’s you’ll need to ask are:


--Have any of the children you are sending to the bus stop had close contact (within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes) in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, or has any health department or health care provider been in contact with you and advised you to quarantine?


--Since you were last at school, have you or anyone in your household had any of these symptoms?

  • Fever

  • Chills

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • New cough

  • New loss of taste or smell


--Since you were last at school, have you been diagnosed with COVID-19?


If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, please do not send your child to school today.

PBIS Celebrations for 1st semester have been planned!

Our school set a goal to earn 300 Hawk High Fives by December 4th. If this goal was met, students would have a movie and pajama day. We met this goal earlier in the year and plans to celebrate have been set! All students will receive 1 bag of prepackaged popcorn to eat during the movie.


December 9 - Remote only students are invited to drop by the school and pick up their bag of popcorn.

December 15 - Pajama Day and PBIS Movie Reward for 'A' students

December 18 - Pajama Day and PBIS Movie Reward for 'B' students

December 18 - 4th Grade Remote Only students will have Pajama Day and PBIS Movie Reward


2nd grade and 3rd grade Remote Only teachers are scheduling their reward day.


Students will watch the movie, Cliques, by the Weaverwood Film & Drama Guild.

Holiday celebrations are being discussed. If your child's teacher reaches out about donating food items, please ensure that the items are INDIVIDUALLY wrapped and prepared in a commerical kitchen. We are discussing options for our Remote Only students.

Reminders about our Specials - off campus hybrid learners should be joining in a LIVE Zoom!

Staring the week of November 9th, our specialists will have hybrid students who are at home learning, Zoom with their face to face learners. This means if your child is a 'B' student and the class has Music on Mondays, then your child will participate in the Music lesson via Zoom on Monday with the rest of the class. Since our specials are provided on a rotating basis, it would be confusing to put that schedule here but our specialists and your child's teacher will share more information.


Bottom line is that your hybrid student will have an additional Zoom on the days they are learning at home. Here are the times of the Zooms. More information will be shared by the specialists and your child's classroom teacher.


This DO NOT apply to Remote Only learners.


Special Times:

2nd grade: 11:00 - 11:30

3rd grade: 12:05 - 12:35

4th grade: 12:45 - 1:15

Third grade students will be swapping out their devices this week for new devices! Please make sure that your child brings his/her charger to school with them each day!

If your child has a hotspot, they will also need to bring the CHARGED hotspot to school with them each day so the hotspot can be connected with the new device.

Remote third graders will bring devices, chargers and hotspots (if applicable) by the school between 8-10 AM on Monday, November 23rd or Tuesday, November 24th. Remember to bring your charger and the CHARGED hotspot (if applicable).
