Principal's Message
Dear KWES Families,
Thank you so much for all your support in April! We had a record number of participants at every event we did this month, starting with our FAMILY STEAM NIGHT. We had so many families attend and enjoyed all the collaborative work and thinking! We couldn't have have done it without your generous donations and support. Our first Field Day was on April 21st, and we had over 40 parent volunteers. Our students enjoyed the time they spent at the stations and your feedback was great! We will take your feedback to improve for next year. Our PTO hosted the 10th Annual Kyle Wilson Walk. It was a scorcher but there was a record turnout. Thank you so much for attending and continuing to support our school! The proceeds from the event will go directly back to our school library, technology and PE equipment. Lastly, we had a wonderful Spring Music Concert. Our fourth and fifth grade chorus and strings students sounded amazing! The Spring Concert is now available on our website for viewing.
SOL INFO
The SOL testing calendar can be found below and on our school's website.
Parent Input for Class Placement 2017-18
You have the option to submit a letter to Ms. Norwood stating what teaching style you are looking for in a teacher for your child next year. Please do not state in the letter the name of the teacher you may or may not want next year. In addition, please do not include names of students that you want your child to be with or without. As a school team, we will work together to ensure that your child is in the best fitting classroom. Now, that we've had them for a full school year, we can make more informed class placement decisions.
EVENTS IN MAY
Teacher Appreciation Week
Thank you to all of our thoughtful and generous KWES families for making Teacher Appreciation Week so special for our teachers! Our teachers were so thankful for all the flowers, snacks, supplies, cards, gifts and treats they were showered with all week! Our PTO did a beautiful job with the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" theme to start the week to made to order smoothies with a hula twist and daily treats in the lounge. We are so appreciative for all the time and thoughtfulness it took to put it all together! Our KWES families and PTO are the BEST!!
SOL ASSEMBLY- MAY 5TH
3rd - 5th Grade students had an awesome time at their SOL Pep Rally. They played a fun game of Family Fued against their grade level teachers and wrote their worries on a watermelon. Their teacher smashed all their "watermelon" worries away! Kindergarten through second grade students sent them special encouragement messages via video. They also lined up the K-2 hallways and cheered them on as they passed. We are so proud of all our kids and we are confident they are going to ROCK THE TEST!!!
CRAFT and VENDOR FAIR
PTO hosted its first Craft Fair on May 6th. The event was well organized and there were so many wonderful vendors to buy from. Thank you to our amazing PTO for putting together another great event!
