School Coupon Books Kickoff
We are excited to announce that FIS gets to keep $9 of each book sale. This announcement was made by Superintendent Thomas on Thursday. Please see the video link for this special announcement: https://youtu.be/kWg6XMPUZUY .
This year we are raising money to purchase supplementary science materials, add more technology tools that will support our teaching and learning, and help keep our facilities updated. The coupon books are not only a great way for you to save money but it puts money back in the school. Please see the attached letter below for full details. We appreciate all your support!
!!!! A special note from the PTA - They are needing help with coupon books and need some volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help with distributing coupon books (9:15-11:00) and spinning the wheel (10:50-1:00). If you are willing and able to help, please email Kelly Martin at kellymommy3@gmail.com. Thank you!
FIS Staff Member Spotlight
My name is Parker Miles. This is my second year teaching. I teach fifth grade reading, and I absolutely love it! I became a teacher because I love helping kids grow and learn. It's truly a pleasure to be able to work at FIS. Teaching is my absolute favorite thing in the world. However, when I am not teaching, I enjoy going to the farmer's market, running, and trying out new restaurants.
Campus Clean Up
FIS Art
We would like to thank the FIS Art Department, specifically, Christy Davis for bringing in Quilting Hall of Fame member, Merikay Waldvogel, to share with our students her love and history of quilts. Students were able to hear stories and learn amazing details about how these quilts tell about our history.

Grade Level Homework
Parents, we strive to keep homework at a minimum:
- Third grade students should have no more than a total of 30 minutes a day
- Fourth grade should have no more than 40-50 minutes a day
- Fifth grade should have no more than 60 minutes a day - total for all three subjects.
If students are unable to complete homework within the given time frames, parents/guardians can draw a line and sign the page.
FIS Cross Country Team
The FIS Cross Country team continues their winning streak.
"Fast Friends"
The team traveled to Sevierville on Monday to battle the heat and about 500 other participants. We had a ton of personal records and saw a bunch of the kids have breakout performances!
Girls Captain Marely, captured her first individual win of the year! She led her team to a second place finish for the third week in a row.
The boys side placed second. Captain Andrew Cabaniss kept his winning streak going, capturing his third individual win!
I'm very proud of how the team is progressing and the teamwork and friendships I'm seeing at every practice and meet!
